hybrid problem

what's the difference?

what up fellow golfer.......how ya hangin'.......anyways, last night when i was out golfing, i coudln't hit my hybrid to save my life.......(cleveland halo 3i) i keep on topping the ball.......and that was my only problem last night....driver was kinda great off the tee, iron play was awesome....putting was almost right on.....but when i pulled out the hybrid, i topped it most....

so i was wondring if there was a difference between the reg. looking hybrid vs the iron-like looking hybrid, in particular, i'm interested in the mizuno fli-hi clk (reg. looking hybrid vs fli-hi (iron-like hybrid)

do they hit different? perform different? are the iron-like hybrid more forgiving? what's the deal yo!

I used to top my hybrids until I moved the ball back an inch or two.

I think it's a bit of a mental hurdle to get along with the wood shaped hybrids if you're used to hitting traditional FW woods. You've got to hit down with more of an iron-like swing as opposed to the sweeping swing that traditional FW's require, as dtwainright mentioned I also think moving the ball back a bit helps with this. I played and really liked the Halo (I may soon acquire a 14 degree as a 3 wood replacement). When I first played the Halo it was my initial try with hybrids and I hit many thin and topped shots with them because they look like woods and I mentally had a tough time putting a descending iron-like swing on them even though I knew it was required. If you can make the adjustment I believe you'll really enjoy the Halo or the CLK because those are the 2 best wood shaped hybrids I've tried and I've tried quite a few. I'm playing iron-like hybrids now (Mizzy Fli-HI II's) and I love them, I've always been able to hit iron shaped clubs straighter and looking down at the iron shape I know I've got to hit down and pinch the ball off the turf. If you hit your MX-23 3 iron well, next time you're at the range hit some 3 iron shots and then switch to your Halo and try to play the ball in the same position and put the same 3-iron swing on it, I bet you'll like the results.
