most European golfers would agree with him that great golf is not just about poking 2 irons or hybrids into narrow fairways, or having greenside rough so deep you can lose your golf bag, but should allow creativity and imagination.

 

See, the problem is either the US Opencourses ARE actually set up slightly easier nowadays or that Seve wasn't quiet as wild as Mickleson/Woods in his day. :cheesy:

 

Players are unjustly punished for slightly wayward shots (missing the fairway by 12 inches versus Micklesons 45 yds and nice clean lies and

line of sight relief.

 

If anybody is hitting the ball that far offline it should be into a world of total pain and suffering and at least let the guys playing reasonably

tightly cop a break now and then!

 

The Tour should be looking at jungle 15 yds + offline at any given fairway and keeping spectators far enough back as not to trample the courses protection into the dust. Less trees, more bushes and Woods and Mickleson will have to play real golf instead of drilling it all over the place and plantinga sandwedge on everything IMO

Yes....an extreme tour setup if you will. On alternate holes one side of the fairway has drunk spectators and the other side dense jungle with lion, tigers, panthers, cheetahs, and the occasional laughing hyena running loose. That will teach these tour players to find fairways.

 

Let's see what the king of the wayward drive can pull out of his hat today.
