Wedges in Diet Pepsi

What will happen?

I know it will remove the small amount of rust on my vokeys, but will it change the standard nickel finish. If so, how will affect the finish.

Doesn't matter too much to me, their already soaking!

I think that you need Regular Coke and not Diet Pepsi to do any real rust removal.

It's the acidicy of the beverage that matters. All carbonated beverages would work, tomato sauce works well, but reddens the club too much.

It won't change the finish on Black Nickel wedges...not sure why you have rust on your wedges if they are Black Nickel? not oil can right?

they're worn pretty good so they are alot lighter in color than when i purchased them.

There is a reson people use Coke instead of Diet Pepsi. The artificial sweetners in Diet sodas actually eat away the metal if they are left in too long!!! It'll take away the rust alright....the whole club head too!!! You have to take them out immediately!!!!

There is a reson people use Coke instead of Diet Pepsi. The artificial sweetners in Diet sodas actually eat away the metal if they are left in too long!!! It'll take away the rust alright....the whole club head too!!! You have to take them out immediately!!!!

Ok, that was funny. :bad: When you started on "artificial sweeteners" my eyes rolled back and I scrolled to the next post.

 

FWIW, I've used Diet Coke to clean up a BeCu putter--worked just fine, but regular Coke seemed to clean up some BeCu wedges quicker. I'm going to guess that the sugars in the regular helped to break down the patina quicker (think teeth and cavitites). Would have had nothing to do with the fact that the putter was in much worse shape than the wedges. :bad:

They turned out very well. All rust removed and the finish did not change. Reccomended to anyone out there!
