My bad, I was just looking at early posts and saw that you were looking for more distance. Just sayin that the face on view is very important if not more important than down the line. If you are not happy with contact then take a look at face on views of your swing and see when the clubshaft is in line (vertically) with your left arm. More people that not, let the clubshaft line up with the left arm well before impact and some let the clubshaft pass the left arm (with a bent left wrist) at or before impact. Most people can work on this area. You can't compress the ball like you want to if the shaft passes the left arm too soon. Google some pics of pro players at impact esp. with irons and look at the relationship between the shaft and the left, that' s what you want to strive for. Impact is made and the shaft is still behind their left arm

JDUB81 it's all good I'm just glad people are looking. My impact has actually been better than ever it's the direction that's killing me right now. The ball is eiter going straight left if my timing is off or I'll hit a straight fade. If I consciously try and shallow out my dowswing I'll hit a push off of the planet. Kind of hard to post good scores playing this guessing game lol.

Can you post a face on view of your swing? If you are looking for more distance, the swing radius (or as the S&T army would say, "hit the ground in the same spot every time") is what you need to focus on not how to move your spine.

Agree here, need to see a face on view. I like what I see DTL...can recommend a few things, but want to make sure it's ok by looking at the front view first.

I thought I'd try and revive this thread and get some more feedback on what if any progress I am making.

Tonight

I've been hanging around the Hogan's Heroes Forums as of late trying to get a better understanding of how to pivot properly. Tonight I worked on steepening my shoulder turn going back and getting the right shoulder coming down the plane in the downswing as opposed to my over the top move. I think the steeper I turn my shoulders the less likely I am to squat in the takeaway. I was able to hit my 3 wood and 4 iron off the deck so I think I'm heading down the right path but when I get sloppy contact suffers. I'm going to tray and be disciplined enough to hit a zillion 9 to 3s. My next priority is to get my hip turn deeper and than keep my arms right arm from sucking to the inside. Flame away boys!

Lets see if I can revive this 3 year old thread. Been struggling as of late with the same things that plagued me three years ago so I decided I would skim over this thread and see if anything clicked. Went to the range this afternoon and focused on turning my shoulders steeper, standing closer to the ball, and getting a little hip slide in the transition. The video may not show it but I did make some progress today and feel like i can see a tiny light at the end of the tunnel. I hit a few 9,8, and 7 irons that were effortless yet extremely powerful and solid. Looks like there is hope for me after all. From what I understand, my steepness at the top can be solved by taking the hands deeper. My hands won't be too far behind me If I turn my shoulders on the correct angle. After I get the shoulders down I plan on working on getting my right hip deeper/ leg straighter and than working on hip slide. I think if I get these pieces in my swing I think It will shallow me out coming down and eliminate the need for the chicken wing. What do you guys think am I on the right track? Would love to here from Monte & Cbrian. It took me awhile but my stubborn brain is finally starting to get it a little bit.

I've been struggling for quite some time now with my golf swing and lack of understanding as to how my body can most efficiently move a golf club but I think I had a break through tonight and it was as if all of a sudden everything just clicked. I spent this afternoon reading through "The Plane Truth: Master Class" this afternoon and hit balls this evening having one of my best ball striking sessions in a long time. I owe a big thank you to Dan C., Monte, and Cbrian for taking the time to give me a few pointers that really got me moving in the right direction. Reading Hardy's book along with reading S & T in the past have really given me a frame work as to what to work on in my swing. I would not classify my swing as either one plane or S &T but really a mixture of the two along with the above mentioned instructors and so far all of the pieces seem to complement one another. The keys for me tonight were to get the shoulders working much steeper in the backswing, hit balls with a tee under the right arm to stop the disconnection, get the club moving to the inside in the take-away without doing Hardy's lawn mower move (getting the arms behind the body makes no sense to me, not really sure how he came up with that), hit the backside of the circle, and most importantly turn my right hip really deep so that I loose a little bit of flex in the right leg. My ballstriking did a 180 almost instantly. No more getting stuck, early extending and hitting nasty push fades and shanks. No more come over it getting steep and hitting 20 yard pulls. The downswing was much shallower and I had plenty of room to go at it as hard as I wanted. My swing may not be the prettiest by WRX standards but I am over the moon with the results from tonight and believe it will only get better with more practice. Hopefully this isn't a flash in the pan.

Early in hand photos of the new GT2 models t the truck.  As soon as they show up on the range in player's bags we'll get some better from the top photos and hopefully some comparison photos against the last model.
