Mizuno: MP80's Set For Aug. 17th Release

Carlsbad, CA (June 30) - Mizuno, the great maker of the world's best forged irons, has scheduled a release date of Aug. 17, 2006, for their new MP80 combo irons. This set is a compilation mix of previous models with certain "tweaks" to make the set flow as one.

According to a representative of one of the leaders in the forged iron market, the MP80 will combine the MP32's in the long irons and the MP60's in the short irons. There will be custom adjustments thoughout the set so that each iron blends with the next. "Our goal is to gain all the benefits that a combo set can provide without the player knowing it is a combination of blades and cavity back's. We feel we can take the premise of a combo set to a new level with these babies!"

Local stores should be getting updates soon on the details of the release.

mp60 in short irons and mp32 in long irons? shouldn't it be the other way around?

Carlsbad????? I thought all press communications came out of Norcross Ga. ????? At least they did when I worked for them. Mr. Sweeny Chime in at anytime to set the board striaght.

I do not want this to seem like a condemnation of anyone, but there does seem to be some doubt whether or not the MP-80's have or will exist.

My question is this: what sort of satisfaction does one get from fabricating something like this or anything else golf related on a message board? Maybe there are MP-80's, maybe there aren't. But if indeed there are not ever going to MP-80's, what is the point of spending the time to write up a phony press release or pass along rumors of seeing a set at some random demo day or the like? I just don't get it.
