Kentucky WRX golf outing

October date?

Blademan, and I have taken lessons from the same instructor. While not at the same time. We have talked and are interested into seeing if would get get a group of guys together from Kentucky to play one day in October. Blademan is a member of the Bull not far from Richmond, Kentucky. I am a member of Campbellsville Country Club, in Campbellsville, Kentucky. (and yes I know JB Holmes and his caddie, and their parents)

Frankie ie, Blademan or myself can work it out so that a group could play on either course. They areate the greens at Campbellsville Country Club in the middle of September, weather permitting. I don't know about the Bull, Blademan will have to let us know. So for that reason, that I was shooting for October.

We were thinking of either playing 18 holes with a possible additional 9, or 18.

Campbellsville is located about a 40 min, drive east of Elizabethtown. Its about an hour and 20 min from either Lexington or Louisville. It is about 45 north of Glasgow, and about an hour west of Somerset.


The Bull is about a 20 min drive from the east side of Lexington. Frankie will have to be more specifc about the distances from the other cities.

I can arrange a block of tee times, and no one will have to pre pay. That late in the year, tee times arent really a problem.

Frankie can more than likely do the same at the Bull.

So let us here from the Kentucky WRX member's and see what we can get together.

Thanks for getting this started! As stated we can get the tee time and October would be a good time for me as well, ok all you Northern Tenn ppl or southern Ohio or heck we don't care were you are from if you want to come and meet some of your fellow WRX members! Let Jim or myself know and we will start to make arrangements.

If the dates work for me, count me in. I have been wanting to make the trek over to The Bull for a while, so that would be my vote. Either way I think it would be fun to get together with some of the Wrx guys.

I live in Louisville and would be open to a car pool with some of the other members from around here.

Lets set a tentative date of Oct 16, we can kind of go from there and see, I'll check with the pro here and post tomorrow, will need some commitments here guys if you are interested. If you prefer or know of something going on please let me know. I will also check and see when the greens are going to be punched. We might also consider Cherry Blossom as I know the pro there too.

Well looks like very little to no interest, maybe we can get one or two foursomes together so lets keep this thread alive. Would a spring outing be better?

If the greens are like the ones in Knoxville, next year might be a better time for a large outing. I don't want to drive 2.5 hours to play a course with bad greens. The Bull wouldn't be on my list of courses to come up to play. Played it once and didn't care for it enough for a long drive up to play again, unless it was free. What about Dale Hollow to play?

Either way would be fine. I figured there would be a little more interest in this as well.

OK, here we go, some are not going to like the Bull or any other course we choose and it sure won't be free, but another course or two here in Central KY we could look at is Houston Oaks or Cherry Blossom. I think at this point we will shoot for spring if that is ok with Jim and others, if we could get an idea about anyone that would be interested in playing and maybe a march or april date PM me or put it here.

What courses have Bent grass fairways? Bermuda will still be dormat that time of year. What about Old Silo? I know they have stay and play packages.

Whats up Goob didn't know you were on here too. If you all do one in the spring then I could maybe set something up on Big Blue I am a member there. But Right now I vote either for Old Silo, or Houston Oaks. The greens at Houston oaks are perfect right now and is one of the only courses that has no greens in any trouble. But All area courses will punch their greens soon. Some will start next week and pretty much all of them By the first of OCT.

Cherry Blossum holds Hooters Tour events and has been in great shape everytime i have played it. I am not sure of the other courses listed. Lassing Pointe in Nky is very good.

Hey guys, I am pretty new to the site but love finding excuses to be on the course.
I cant vouch for any of the courses listed except that I lived in Campbellsville for 4 years and Campbellsville CC always seemed to be in pretty good shape when I drove by.
Any time in October would be super for me.

I'd love to get together and play with the fellow WRXer's. I'm in Lexington so anywhere around Lex is perfect. Too bad you all didn't shoot for the 9th because its going to be perfect weather!
