I have not hit the older CG1s but I own the CG1 Black Pearls. They are very forgiving for a blade. I sold a set of Rac 2004 CBs as I liked the Black Pearls better and for me were more forgiving and easier to work.

Feel is also very good. The Racs may have felt a slight bit better on pured shots but overall the Black Pearls just flat out perperformed them.

A little off topic since I've never used CG1s, but just want to share with you my experience. I was a MP-33 user and because I was itching to try something new, I sold my 33s and switched to MP-60s because I thought I could use the extra forgiveness, big mistake. I never really clicked with the 60s, my ball striking didnt seem as consistent and eventually those inconsistencies crepted into other areas of my game. Now, I use MP-32s which are pretty nice, but if I had to do it all over again, I would have never switched out of my MP-33s.

My experiences are the same as raywutang. I've tried switching from my MP-33's several times now (I've had mine for 5 years), thinking something new might be even more magical, but no luck. I tried the MP-30s, but couldn't click with them. Now I'm using the MP-32's as well, but they aren't working yet for me either. I thought I'd give them 3 months trial time before I go back to the 33's. One month to go and it's not looking promising. The distances I get with each iron just aren't as consistant as with the 33's. For example, with the 33's I hit my 6-iron usually about 187 yards, but with the 32's, I hit my 6-iron 195 or 170 with no real noticeable change in my swing. Very similar to the experiences I've had when I tried to play cast irons....that is, distances too inconsistent.

I played the 33's for about 3 years and loved them. Recently I got the bug, due in most part to a golfing buddy who spends about $8,000/year on golf equipment ( he is my unoffical club tester) to try the 32's. I ordered and play with them currently and am adjusting to them. I think they will be my first stringers but I have not sold the 33's and I would recommend that you keep you 33's as well. I also think that there is a little bit of difference to the feel of the 32's vs. the 33's with the 33's feeling a little better and crisper, but the 32's do offer some degree of forgiveness. Due to a work schedule my first part of the golf season was limited but lately have been playing more and enjoying the 32's more, I think in the long run it will be a good switch. I played a couple of holes with the CG1's of another friend and found them lacking in comparison to my then 33's. Hope that helps.

From MR 69...The distances I get with each iron just aren't consistant...with the 32's, I hit my 6-iron 195 or 170 with no real noticeable change in my swing.....

Now there is a statement I agree with. I played with a set of MP-32's for about a month. My distance control was just as you stated, extrememly inconsistent! The MP-32's are gone for this reason.

wakenwae, thanks for the good advice. how did you find the CG1's lacking?

1. At address they appeared to be a shorter club head.

2. Forgiveness on mishits was definitely lacking compared to the 33's. I think the weight distribution on the 33's helps in the higher ball flight and forgiveness.

3. The head felt like it was made out of a completely harder metal.

4. Ball flight was definitely lower; maybe due to club head weighting again.
