Hitting driver too low....

OK..First it is a new driver.R7 425 TP 10.5 w/ 660tr X ,weights set up for high trajectory...In the recent past I was playing a R5 TP 9.5 with the same shaft and also a Hibore 10.5 with same shaft.The hibore was a nice trajectory but it liked to hook too much for my liking.I hit the R5 on a nice high trjectory( I should have never got rid of it)..But anyhoo..

The reason I post the question here is that I am quite sure it is not a club issue but rather a swing problem...

I have a feeling I am delofting the club at impact more so than normal....I had a two day tourney this past weekend and hit it pretty good as in hitting fairways.Misses where low hooks....I realy feel that I am not doing anything different but abviously that is not the case...The course I was playing was realy firm and fast so I did not suffer much distance loss.But any place else and it would have been a problem.I am going to see my pro in the next week but I want to see what you all have to say....Thanks...Jack

i have the same problem, i hit it too low and misses a lot of times are low hooks...i would give my clubs away to be able to hit it higher like some of the guys i play with...i would really like to know also if anyone has an answer...i am also seeing my teacher this weekend

i blame it on my irons.. my driving was great but iron play wasn't and so i worked on irons all winter and spring to compress the ball and deloft my irons at impact and lets just say that my iron game is very nice at the moment.. but i have moved that same swing to my driver.. and boy that is so bad.. i was hitting low pulls and hooks... but then it got worse last week. it got steep and was hitting pop up.. :drinks:

 

 

so now back to working on driver again.. to get more round in the swing..

so is there any kind of fix to it? like hit balls with your shoes off like Ben Hogan (?) to round the swing or what...there has to be some kind of common fault that should be fixable...would one cause maybe be coming really far from the inside so you block it low or flip at it?

I have the same problem, real low off the driver, even the irons too. My guess is that everyone here including me gets the club stuck behind them and either pushes it out right or tries to save it and hits a hook instead. Hopefully I can bump this thread to where somebody can help us :drinks:

I had the same problem a while back and my friend noticed that my ball position was getting too far back in my stance. It was right after I changed driver's too.

 

Maybe it's getting farther back in your stance as well. At least it's worth a look and it's a quick fix if it is.

Let me expand on that last post. I used to hit it pretty low, and have corrected this problem by not moving off the ball so much on the backswing. In the past, when I would make a backswing, I'd make what I thought was a big shoulder turn that was really a big lateral move and eventually it got me in trouble (moving my head away from the target). Of course, when you move back you have to move foreward to make contact, and it's pretty hard to move the exact right amount in the exact right amount of time. In my case, I was moving too far back to the ball (towards the target). This brought the swing path too far forward and, thus, I wasn't catching the ball on the upswing but more towards the bottom or just before the bottom of the arc. In doing this, it was creating some pretty low drives, which to bring this full circle in my reference to the previous post, was being created by having the ball too far back in my stance at impact. The difference was that I wasn't doing this at address, only impact, and it was because of excessive head movement away from and back to the target during the swing. It was really difficult to feel, so I would highly recommend using a video camera face on to see if this is your issue. Fixing this really helped my launch conditions.

a quick fix is to get a higher lofted driver... more loft more control..

i know easier said than done.. i have always hit the ball very high.. yes im a picker... but even now i use a 10.5... other than that see a local pro that has a good reputation and let him work with you.. it sounds like a fairly simple fix.. just moving on it . or ball placement.. but im guessing that you might have more movement in your swing than you think

get some duct tape put it on the face and see where you are hitting on the face.

 

If it is low that is your problem. Next try moving the ball forward in your stance 1" try hitting some drives that way as you will not be able to deloft it without swaying 6 inches to the left before impact.

 

I have the opposite problem I hit the ball too high with my driver so i am reshafting.

 

My irons are quite high which is a product of a descending blow with a divot and a pretty high swingspeed.

I figured out I was rolling my wrists on the takeaway and the club was getting too layed off at the top, which would result in loss of control and sprayed shots...usually low, also I was coming really far from the inside and that caused more problems...so I have been working on fixing that and I have a much better path and a controllable...mid to now even high ball flight!~
