Amelia Island ?

Need some help here. We are planning a familly vacation this summer. We have done Kiawah and Hilton Head and were looking to give Ameilia a try. Any information anyone can give on courses and places to stay. I notice there is a Ritz and Amelia Island Plantation has several options. Please need as much information as you guys can give me.

I don't know much about places to stay but there is a lot of great golf in the area. The Ritz has Amelia Island Golf Club formerly Summer Beach Golf Club it is a nice coarse. I am sure they have connections with other coarse in the area. The Planation has 3 coarse. I haven't played the Ocean coarse but here it is nice it has hole right on the ocean. Oak Marsh is nice it is allot like the coarse at the Ritz. The other coarse is Long Point kit is private not sure if they let resort guest play it. I know I have never had a chance to play it Other coarse in the area North Hampton nice but tough has a links feel to it. Amelia National brand new Fazio Coarse hosted a Hooters Tour event. I recommend this one. Amelia River Golf Club this is my favorite just a golf coarse no houses used to be owned by the Plantation but the lost it in when they filed chapter 11 it is run by Davis Love Golf now I recommend it. There is also a muni Fernandina Beach Golf Club that has 27 hole that I play regular not has nice as the rest but easy on the wallet. If you expand out to the Jacksonville area there are a bunch more. Enjoy your stay

Amelia Island Plantation Ocean Course was very nice. Shorter course but a few nice ocean views. If i'm not mistaken, I believe its Top 50 Womens courses. Try booking it through golfnow.com, i saved 60%.

Probably too late for your vacation, but it might help someone else. I would definitely play North Hampton, it should be less than a $100 a round, and is an Arnold Palmer signature course. It is a great course and was my favorite in the area. All of the Amelia Island resort courses are nice, but they are a little more spendy. I can't remember the name, but there is an older course in Jacksonville, that hosted a US Open that Ben Hogan won. The World Golf Village has two courses and they usually run a special in the summer to play both courses for less than a hundred also. Obviously Ponte Vedra has the TPC, kind of nice. The other nice thing is that unlike where I am now (western Washington), range balls and carts are included in the price. It always amazes me that courses don't include a few rnage balls for warming up, you would think it would help pace of play, and potentially keep the course in better shape for the first couple of holes. Long post reduced to one line, there are a ton of nice courses in North Florida and South Georgia, and if you are willing to play them in the heat of the summer, they are relatively cheap, and not very crowded.
