Titleist 775 CB stock shaft-NS Pro 100

Hi, all.

I have a quick question about the flex of the NS Pro 100 which is a stock shaft of the new titleist 775 CB irons.

I initially was going to buy the set with regular flex but had to go for stiff. The reason is that the regular flex of the NS pro was felt too whippy to me.

I was using TT dynalite regular shafts (Mizuno MX-23) and it worked perfect for me. And I felt like the stiff version of NS pro is matching to the regular shaft of TT dynalite.

I wonder if there is anyone who can verify my initial feeling on this. I mean, I wonder I made a correct choice in going for stiff. I also wonder why shaft flexes vary depending on companies.

Thank you.

I would agree with your conclusion. I have played regular flex Dynalite Gold shafts in the irons I have had since I started playing 9 years ago. I am currently demoing new irons and plan to to get Mizuno MX-900 with stiff flex Dynalite Gold SL shaft. I can feel no difference in the R vs S in the Dynalite Gold SL. I very much liked the 775s and was only able to test it in a stiff NS Pro 100. To me, the two shafts in stiff had similar feel although the ball flight was very slightly lower on 775s and the shaft felt a little more like a Rifle shaft. My clubhead speed w/driver is 96 mph and I carry 7 iron 150. If you are similar I would think the stiff would be fine. I will check with my fitter about the stiffness when I do the fitting, but I am leaning towards stiff in the Dynalites. My only hesitation is that, at 52, I am not getting any younger. I think all these shafts feel significantly softer than even a regular flex Dynamic Gold, which produces a lower ball flight than I like. Hope this helps

If you can handle the weight, and at 100g the NS Pro shouldn't be a probllem, you should play a flex that matches your tempo and your ability to load a shaft properly, not necessarily your swing speed. I am not trying to convince S flex players to check out X flex, for the most part that's not a good idea. But when you feel you are sometimes at a R flex and sometimes at a S depending on the shaft type, you should forget the flex sticker and just get the shaft the you feel you can properly load and hit relatively straight shots.

I would not equate NS Pro S flex to True Temper R flex either in DG or the Lites, it depends on the golfer. For some that's true, for others the NS Pro still plays a little stiffer than an R Flex from TT - at least it did for me. I have always found the NS Pros to load very well and stay consistent, they feel lighter for sure, but not necessarily whippy.

I got a set after a fitting session. I went with the NS PROs in stiff. I loved the feel of the clubs, but was all over the map with them. It was different performance than what I experienced at the fitting session. My club fitter found that 4 out of the 8 shafts cycled in the "ladies" flex. Grim! The lies and lofts were also off on 6 out of 8 of the clubs. I had them reshafted with soft stepped DG S300s, and had the lies and lofts set to my liking.

Now I couldn't be happier with them. Feel, flight, and performance are all excellent. Get a low priced set off of ebay and have your club fitter set them up for you. You won't be sorry. The clubs are awesome, Titleist just has BS quality control.
