Any one else get the "over the tops" after using...

Within the last few weeks I really have improved my driving, worked hard on some things my coach taught me. Have used the MOMENTUS on and off for a few years. Seems after drilling with it I start coming over the top and get the pulls ( sometimes, gasp :D , the shanks). Anyone else notice this problem or is it just me.

It's funny you ask....I fight an 'other the top' shoulder throw all the time! I've never considered that it might be a result of using the Momentus.

 

I'll pay better attention to it and post my findings....

the momentus is the best thing i've ever bought. it's important to try to replicate your swing motion as much as possible. if you already have an upright swing i can see you allowing the club to kind of fall over at the top. i swing pretty round-almost flat and it helps my tempo unbelievably.

I warm up daily with a Momentus and have not had the problem you are describing. Not sure what's causing you to come over the top, but it's possible that using a weighted club is either ingraining the swing flaw or helping it to become more pronounced. Might want to ask a pro or a friend to have a look at your swing path - the idea behind the Momentus is that the club's weight naturally creates the right swing path, but it's certainly possible that the weighted club could be working against you.

At their Fitness & Training Summit, Titleist Performance Institute reported a study they did showing heavy clubs were worse for warm-up compared to a lighter club ( i.e. gripping driver at the hosel area and swinging the grip end.)

Freddy Couples once said he never swings anything heavier than a golf club because it just slows down his muscles. I think he was on to something. I have a momentus and found after swinging it all winter I lost swing speed. Occasionally now I bring it back out and find it ruins my tempo.
