2 million a year in upkeep? Do mega yachts require champagne baths to stay in tip top shape? Do all boats like that have a 10% maintenance fee?

Actually, yes they do. You typically need to maintain a fulltime staff of at least 6-8 people, on top of all the other maintanence issues associated with the boat. Most people don't realize just how expensive mega-yachts like that are. Purchase cost is only the start ...

I knew about staffing and such, but are they the bulk of that 10% cost or does stuff just keep breaking down that much where you're constantly replacing parts? (400k to staff, and then 1.7m for maintenance for example)

My friend is a captain of a 22 million dollar yacht that is just over 120' and the gas alone with charters is over 1 mil a year. Doesn't include maint and crew costs which they have 4 plus chef. They just had a big maintenance period with the boat out of the water and it was not cheap. Stuff is always broken.
