Played Pecan Hollow Sunday afternoon around 3:00. Africa hot. Ended up behind a threesome that played like a slow fivesome and they had a fivesome in front of them. It was a slow afternoon but I'll give props to the marshals out there for staying on the pace of play. This was my first time out there since they did the renovation and I liked the course. Plan to go back.

Maybe we can get 2 foursomes going for the weekend of the 17th. And maybe the temps will be a few degrees better too.
Firewheel lakes is a good course.
Indian creek, Plantation.. lots to choose from. Also one in Fairview north of Allen

I've played Firewheel Old Course the last 2 Saturdays starting before 8:00 and the pace has been great. From what I could see it looks like they've finished the bunkers on the Lakes course. For those 2 courses it would help if someone on here is a Garland resident as I believe they can get tee times earlier. Otherwise it's calling at 8:00am on Wednesday for weekend times. Old Course has been pretty easy to get early. 2 weeks ago Lakes had an early tournament and last Saturday they were already booked for early times when I got through on the phone.

Woodbridge in Wylie is in great shape and they include a sleeve of Pro V's with the rate up to 2:30. They also have a new putting course that could be fun for a little after golf challenge.

I might be interested in playing at 730, too hot to play later. How did you guys book the time and was it through the shop?
I think Jaytee said to see if the other 2 spots are available, it would have to go through the shop. Hope to see you there!

Thanks I wasn't sure who "them" was. We'll see if I can get up in time, I'm lazy on the weekends....well I'm lazy all the time :)

I'll be out hunting coyotes for potential profit, Sat and into Sun morning. :)
Sounds fun, I need to get out and exercise my AR some. Only shot it about 5 times since I got it in the winter.
only if we get some...12+ hours of straight hunting gets to be like a bad round of golf if you don't get/see any critters.

Hopefully I can get in a Sunday twilight round, if I get some decent sleep between Sun mid morning and 3pm.

Thinking of playing twilight at either Firewheel or Sherrill Park this evening.

Think I will play at Sherrill Park at 4-ish today. Need to learn the course and play it more often. As evening sunlight gets less, it is the closest to me.

What kind of condition is it in? I am going there Tues, found a $16 deal on Golfnow.

well...condition : slow greens.

But, I am not going to play there again anytime soon...
has more to do with my high 90's game, lol.

The course (#2), is for shotmakers... it penalizes you in many ways, if you don't hit greens...and stick.
for instance, any green with a backside/side into water, has close cut grass all the way to the water.
So, say you hit the back of the green, and the ball bounces, rolls another little bit....goodbye ball.
it is a fairly tight course. Had one pretty, pretty iron shot go just oh, 10 yards past the green....hello cart path..goodbye ball as it bounced into unreachable area.

Actually had a lot of last approach shots go to far today. I know I picked the right club most f the time, so I am guessing it was changing from better balls to Snake eyes soft distance.
All the shots were juuuusssttt over the green, and then there was the dammed hazards.

I think a guy needs to be playing in the 80's score to enjoy the challenge.

Played #1 this morning. Greens really slow when hitting into the grain. Fairways were beautiful. Started birdie, birdie. But reality set in on the back nine.

Nearly allt the pins were on the back of the greens. Which was strange.

Heads-up, Woodbridge just punched and sanded the greens Tuesday.

RE sherrill park, the greens were slow the day I played (course 1) also. It was a Sunday twilight deal and I had just assumed that the next day was their day to mow down the greens, but it sounds like this is a trend.

RE the meetup, I'd be in, but I'm already playing on Saturday.
I played with someone who worked at the course and he said the long greens might be because they are holding the City Championship there in a few weeks and maybe they were trying to save the greens.
