Kwok Grind X-Tours Wedges

Ok I started with some nice vintage finish x-tour wedges.. 54/13 and 60/11 with MD grooves. Off the shelf they were plenty impressive and I love the vintage finish. The grooves are very aggressive without being overly so and spin consistently and just about the right amount for my game. So what to improve on ? Yes the grinds. I'm been playing prototype vokey's with various grinds for years, but I have always had the fondest memories of the Tourstage Maru wedges I've owned in the past, so why not try to take this grind and apply some of the same basic principles to my X-tours.

This is where I called upon the skillset of none other then Joe Kwok. For those who dont know Joe you are really missing out. To make a long story short, I called him up and a 10 min conversation turned into 60 minutes (which often happens talking to Joe) Just kidding it was all worth it. First set of 4 pictures is the 60 degree wedge, were we sort of did a "M" grind to it, but not too much since it already had a "P" grind as well. I think it's looks great and the heel relief is something I needed this wedge to have more of. The next 4 are my 54* wedge were again we took a little more heel and toe relief and even a slight leading edge grind to make it more playable for my chipping style. It's hard to see from the pictures but this is a little sole area near the middle that was pretty much left untouched.

I look forward to my first round with them tomorrow... I've never liked chipping with my Gap wedge but since the modifications I feel I can add the chip and run to my game. Oh yeah the black DGS400 shafts look awesome as well and the craftsmanship of the install is second to none. These got the full spa treatment...wooden dowels etc etc...

Those Black DGS400 are just awsome, isn't it? It really makes the feel much smoother.

Well after a 81 with only 26 putts.. I think I suck. Actually I felt like I should have 1 putted every green, I really missed some inside 6ft. Anyways the jury is still out on the gap...frankly I didn't have to many instances for it's use, the couple times I did use it...it felt fine. Now the lob was a different story.. my ball was magnetic to greenside bunkers yesterday and I was 5/7 in sand saves. PoppyRidge's bunkers are kinda more then a little INCONSISTENT, so I have to say this grind is awesome. I should have been 7/7 but I was not following through on short putts...so I missed a couple.

Anyways...no crying. I tried to outline the grinded area with a marker, but it looked like garbage so I washed it off. :help: Anyways look forward to getting some more rounds in and some range work and yes the Black DGS400 are super smooth as well.

Those wedges are gorgeous!! Thats a crazy grind on the 60! What do the Black DGS300 look like? Any pics?

It's not DGS300, It's DGS400. Only available on DGS400!

I hit 20 balls to the 100yard tiny 10x10ish green on the practice range today with the 54*.. hit it 17/20 . Shoot I have no excuse to be money with that wedge in my hand. Now to get 100 yards away in the short grass on all par4's. Now that is the challenge. :help:
