Switched to contacts, all my clubs look much shorter.

Recommended Posts

Has anyone experienced this? Impact on your ball striking?
I recently switched to wearing contacts, and subsequently all of my clubs look much shorter to me at address. My driver looks like it's as long as my seven iron used to look when I was wearing glasses. I've only hit into the net in my back yard since making the switch, so I'm not sure how it's effecting my ball flight. I was just wondering if anyone out there had any experience with this issue.

you probably buried your chin into your chest with the glasses on, & now you can see with your peripheral vision, thus making the club appear shorter since your head moved 7 inches back. I would also check your house for clubmaking gnomes. Those bastards will chop 3 inches off your driver & plug your putter. The next time you hit balls You'll say to your self "CRAP! My driver is 41" and my putter is 38" wtf! & when did I get pink grips?"

my optometrist said my prescription made my golf clubs and everything appear 10% smaller. When i switched back to contacts everything was normal. I found that my glasses gave me a convex curve to all straight lines. these were smaller lensed rayban glasses.

I can't play in anything except contacts :help:

My mom is paying for laser eye surgery for me so i am kind of stoked about that

After wearing smaller lensed glasses for a while (which I lost fishing - doh! too many beers on the boat) I went back to playing in contacts routinely. When I got my new frames - every club looked about 75' long, and I could hi ta shopt to save my life, so I'm going with contacts 100%. Turns out I prefer them for golf - esp. b/c it makes dealing with sunglasses/rain/etc. so much easier.

I've worn glasses for years, but recently tried playing golf with contacts, and.............

It was #$%#$@# AWFUL!!! :cheesy: I couldn't see a thing - my eyes were constantly watering, fuzzy vision, and couldn't hit the ball worth a darn. It was a very, very humiliating experience.

I may try another round on the driving range, but sadly.......it appears glasses are the way for me from here on out, as I'm too chicken for Lasik.

I tend to go long periods alternating between glasses and contacts. I will wear contacts for 3 months, then give my eyes a break and wear glasses for a month. Whenever I switch between the two, there is always a period of adjustment. Personally, I don't see things smaller of bigger, just "unstable" for a day or so.

So I think it's just a perception thing that you will eventually adjust to.
