Bridgestone Stand Bag (2010 model) Review

Not much discussion out there on this stand bag so I just wanted to post a quick review.

Price

The bag MSRP is $178 but can be found in the ~$120-140 range if you look around (more or less comparable to other big brand stand bags)

Weight

The bag is listed at different sites as 6-7 pounds. Fedex had the box containing the bag listed at 6 pounds. My previous bag was a titleist x86 and this bag is about 2 pounds heavier. I walk 50% of the time and so far I haven't noticed the extra weight. It does have a great strap system, more on that later.

Storage and Club Dividers

The bag has 2 large clothing pockets, a valuables pouch, two pockets suitable for storing balls/markers/tees, a large insulated beverage holder, and a large pocket behind the beverage holder. What's impressive about this bag is the depth of the pockets - there's really alot of space for storage and I'm pretty sure you could fit a 40oz steel reserve in the beverage holder. The valuables pouch is a little on the small side, not large enough to fit, say, a bushnell range finder.

There's two full length dividers separating 9 slots for clubs. No problems whatsoever with clubs getting tangled, much better than the Titleist in this respect.

Strap and Stand System

Super nice straps on this bag, there's some kind of gel padding in the straps which makes it more comfortable than the titleist x86 and maybe makes it easier to lug around the extra 2 pounds the bag weighs. The straps are easily adjustable. The one thing the bag lacks is an integrated handle in the top collar of the bag, which I used all the time with the titleist for setting the bag down, pulling the bag out of the trunk etc.

The stand system is very smooth and responsive, but the bag does stand a little more vertical than the titleist bag. The stand mechanism also won't activate in the back of the golf cart, which was a problem for me with the titleist.

Overall this is an excellent stand bag and it looks great too. The bridgestone golf brand is pretty distinct here in the states and I'd be surprised if you ran into anyone else using this bag.
