interested in how these irons are forged...

This is my first post after reading your thoughts/views for some time now...

History: Just sold my MP 32s after 1 3/4 seasons of play. I liked them a lot, but I've got Titleist everything else and I find that I'm slowly merging into one brand. With that said, I'm now looking at Titleist irons, and have already hit the 690MB and 681.

Profile: swingspeed (on Vijah's Speed Stick-thingy) was around 95 mph. Don't have a handicap but shoot in the low/mid 80s. (this doesn't scare me from blades/MBs - yet).

Mission: select a set of blades/MBs that I will keep for several years/decades - I want a set that I'll want to have re-chromed some day.

Very impressed with the 681 - feel and ball flight were steller. I have little trouble getting the ball in the air - may steer clear of the 690MB. Thought about the 670 because I'm a digger... Nike Forged Blades are very sweet looking, too (where are they forged?).

I know that choosing a club comes down to what I prefer to look at and what feel I'd like and such, but I am wondering which clubs are forged from what steel (and where)? I've read references to "Endo" forging (and also "Hutchison?" or some H-word) and am wondering what effect this has?

Hoffman forgings? I think they are gone now.

 

You will find many opinions on this matter. Around these forums you will se a bias towards a Japanesse forging house called Muira. While there are many others Endo, Nelson, Dynamix, Daishin, etc.

 

It is a mixed bag. I have heard that Miura heads are 2 piece forgins. They weld the hozel to the head. That would take away from the feel. I have heard that Endo is the forging house of choice now.

 

At the end of the day can you tell the difference. Maybe. I would say the material used is MUCH more important than the place it was formed.
