Muira Forged Tour Vokey?

The seller states the wedge is muira forged. I have never heard of a muira forged vokey tour or retail. Stretching the truth I think.

This would be news to me as well. Aren't all Vokey's, retail and tour cast? The tour ones have special grinds, stamps, porting etc... but I've never heard one being advertised as forged.

Sounds a bit fishy with the fact that bob has always said that he only does cast wedges.

Firstly I have no clue but I do remember BV saying that he would only do cast as per previous post.

 

But here's a thing...I remember being at Sunningdale in the early 80's and Seve playing a practice round there. This was in the days when nobody, apart from the players, bothered to go to practice days so we walked alongside Seve and were able to look into his bag and, shock-horror, even hold one of his clubs. Anyway, at the time he was contracted to Slazenger but these were obviously Mizuno irons (TP-11's I think) with an extremely poor stamping of "SLAZENGER" put on them by what looked like a 4 year old. I think in the trade they were called "blanks" at the time and it was quite common (Faldo did the same when he was contracted to Wilson and there was the famous Wilson catalogue shot with Mizuno TP-9's adorning his Wilson bag on the front cover of their golf product guide) for this sort of thing to go on.

 

So, what I was wondering was whether or not (I am sure it does) this sort of thing went on -but- that these days things are a lot more sophisticated and on a "blank" Miura they could put all the Titleist markings? I am sure that Titleist would not care as they still get the visibility and if a certain player insists upon it I am certain that a deal is going to be quietly done.

 

Just a thought.

 

PS. I guess as with buying any "tour" stuff the adage "know your source" applies here...

Looks like a tour Vokey, but they're not Miura forged. If you want a forged tour wedge from Titleist, look for the ones made by Larry Bobka.

Where are the initials? If it was tour it would have initials on it.

I seem to remember a line of forged Titleist wedges about 8-10 years ago. I'm not sure if they were Vokeys. They were specific grinds of certain tour players. There was a Davis Love model, a Steve Elkington model, and a Brad Faxon model. I'm pretty sure they were forged, and they were Vokeys. I could be wrong, but I do remember these.

Forged yes, vokey no.

 

They came out just prior to the Vokeys. I was going to pull the trigger on two of them at a demo day until the rep told me to hold off for the Vokeys the next fall.

 

I don't think Vokeys are done in forged...just Bobka.
