Great course....

I am from Northern NM and it has always been one of my favs.

If you are able...Black Mesa in Espanola is not that far away from Taos.

If not Espanola, Angel Fire is a very nice drive and a nice course.

Also you may consider Pendaries(quite short...but pretty cool course)

Still don't know the exact schedule we'll have while down there, but its going to be pretty tight. Was looking at TGCC mostly because its about 15 minutes away from the hotel we'll be staying at, so really close by. I'll look into those other courses though, thanks for the input.

Cool...well you won't go wrong with 2 rounds there...The course has always been good shape(hope it still is)...it is New Mexico Links..LOL! It goes through NM Sagebrush...if you get in the Sagebrush..say bye to the ball or expect a punch out.

Angel Fire will provide you with the nice mountains and forest while you play.

Black Mesa is pure NM desert with rolling hills, fairways and greens.

Could be now...not sure....I have not been home since Christmas last year....but it was fine then.

I played it yesterday; other than the tee boxes being scruffy, it was in nice shape

Pendaries is burned out except for the greens and tees. Very, very dry, and a journey to get there from Taos. Don't know about Angel Fire, but all of NM has been extremely dry.

I played Taos today, my 6th round of this trip (Twin Warriors, Sandia, Cochiti, Towa, and Black Mesa were the others). There are some very panoramic views of the mountains, as well as some incredible adobe homes lining the course. The conditions were great--fast but receptive greens, nice fairways and boxes. The sand was a bit inconsistent, but not too bad. Unlike the other desert courses where you can play a shot from off the fairway, it's impossible here due to the sage.

I booked an online special via direct link from the course website, but the pro shop didn't have my tee time logged and tried to charge me more than my prepaid rate, so beware of that.

Overall fun and worth playing, just don't expect signature type holes like at some of the other courses in NM.
