wedgewood in conroe

Anybody played wedgewood in conroe before? I am going Friday and am wondering what to expect.

Well...Ive played this course several times. To be honest, its ok at best. Be forewarned...if you are not familiar with the course, you may be in for some surprises off the tee. This course is very tight with a couple sharp doglegs that you can easily hit through with driver. If you are not sure, hit less than driver off the tee. There are also a couple blind tee shots that you may think you striped it only to find out that the fairway isnt as long as you thought and there is a hazard at the end of it that was not visible from the tee box. I will give it some credit though..Wedgewood does have its share of challenging and fun holes. It is usually in ok shape.

If you are coming from I45..about a mile before you get to Wedgewood you will see an entrance for West Fork on the left side. There is a course in there (The Links at West Fork) that is much better than Wedgewood. If you have a choice, I would suggest playing there instead.

i will look into the links thanks. its weird i havent heard anything great on here about wedgewood but it is supposed to be rank highly amoung texas courses. maybe the ranking was a long time ago

Would be interested in what you thought about Wedgewood. I have played it numerous times. As swbyps said, it is very tight. And, last time I was there, there was e a lot of hard bare ground. Greens have mostly always been in pretty good shape. Tee boxes a bit sparse for grass and fairways hard as a freeway. With more TLC, could be a lot better course. First time I played it it was in much better shape but over the years saw it go downhill.
