Dublin or Belfast

Not really a golf topic but definitely golf related. I'll be traveling to Ireland in late September for about 10 days (work and pleasure...mostly pleasure) and looking for some airport information. I'm flyng into Cork making the rounds in the SW and then to RCD and Portrush or Portmarnock.

 

My question is this: Is there a preference in terms of ease of travel, convenience, traffic, etc between the Belfast and Dublin airports? Both options are relatively similarly priced but I'm trying to decide if I want to over-nite in the Belfast/Portrush, play RP and fly out from there or return to Dublin, play Portmarnock/CountyLouth (baltray)and return from there. Decisions, decisions, right??? Any opinions would be greatly appreciated.....Would love to play Portrush but Portmarnock and Baltray are another option and as hard as I try, I cant fit all three in.

 

Pretty sure I know the answer but what the heck. Any ideas for weather prep for the different regions at that time of year, from SW, East to the N and NW? Thanks in advance. :wave:

I WOULD play portmarnock anf baltry. belfast is a nice place worked there for 3 years but i would stick with dublin, you could even play 36 one day as there is a really good course seapoint that is right beside baltray

errmmm sorry...if you have the option of Portmarnock/Baltray v RCD an Portrush....there is not even a debate which to take. You go for N. Ireland!!

I agree if you are talking about cities, then Dublin would be better...but if we are talking golf there is no debate whatsoever!

Sept. is the best time of year to be there....have undergarment gear and rain gear of course, but it is usually the mildest time for rain.

Oh did I mention that Baltray and PM are not even in the same ballpark as RCD and PR?

if you say so....... i have played all 4 many times and all are top drawer champsionship calibre courser... portmarnock is still the best for me and quite a few european tour pros would agree.

Sorry, I disagree and so do way more players than the "few" tour pros you mention. RCD and PR are consistently ranked in the top 15 courses in the whole world every yea

I have played and still play all those courses dozens of times and there is no comparison.

Baltray is not even in the same league as Portmarnock, so to compare it to RCD or PR is a bit of bollox.

I suppose you put Portmarnock ahead of BallyBunion too?

Portmarnock is generally considered the 6th or 7th best course in Ireland...behind the ones named and some of the other ones.

I am not saying it is bad, as it is not...it is a good course...but not above RCD or PR. and to state that a Baltray/PM trip is better than PR/RCD is just wrong.
