Hi all,

 

 

 

I would like to hear some thoughts on my driver swing. After watching it a couple times I think I have an out to in swing path, but I would like to hear some of your opinions. I forgot my video camera, so it was shot from a cell phone. Also, this is my first time recording my swing so if I need to record things differently let me know.

 

 

 

 

The first swing sliced about 10 yards off the fairway and the second ended up in the fairway, but still had a big left to right flight. That is my typical ball flight. I would like to get some consistency and minimize the left to right flight. I don't mind hitting a fade, but would like to straighten it out a bit.

 

 

 

I have never taken a lesson, just pieced together my swing over the last two years with things I have read on here and other sites.

When you start your swing, take the club outside just a touch more, and on your downswing try and come underneath your backswing's plane. This should help the slice, and consistency.

in regards to how to take the video...
for a DTL shot, have the camera more in between the ball and the foot line, not way outside on the ball line. easier to pause it and determine the plane, swing path, posture, alignment...etc.
and a face on view is definitely a must.

the thing that sticks out immediately is that your feet look to be set up parallel with hitting a straight drive....but your shoulders are pointed 50-70 yards left of the fairway and hips appear to be open to the target line as well. from that position it'll always be hard to not swing out-to-in and fight a slice. work with some alignment sticks (or set some clubs down parallel to your target) at the range and get your shoulders parallel with your foot/hip line.

i'd also assume from that position you have no tilt away from the target (hard to tell without a face on view, but its a safe guess looking at the way your shoulders are sitting from down the line). when you have your shoulders parallel to your feet/target line, tilt your whole spine couple degrees to the right so your right shoulder is lower than the left and heads a little back from center.

i'd work on that, see how it affects the ballflight and then post some better video once you've gotten used to that posture/alignment.
