You can't fault Tiger. Can't fault Cink. Can't fault Johnson. They were the top guys, IMO.

 

Mickelson was the worst perfomer by far. Then Furyk. Then DiMarco.

 

Time to face facts.

 

1) The Euros wanted it more.

2) The Euros played better.

3) The Euros ARE better

Mickelson, Toms and DiMarco should be embarrassed beyond belief.

Toms, DiMarco and Verplank all had back wrist or shoulder injuries this year. Not a good sign for consistency. I dogged Verplank but he came up with two points. He admitted that he actually played horribly in the partner play but still ended up with the all important point.

 

How about the picks Woosie made. BRILLIANT!

 

P.S. what a boring event. Does not have the draw of a Major for me. Not even close.

It was interesting only because of all the great Golfers playing fourballs/foursomes etc. Otherwise, it's almost a non-event.

 

USA vs Europe? A country vs a continent? That doesn't make much sense. Plus, I don't think anyone felt like they were playing for their country unlike events like the Soccer World Cup where you can really feel the emotion and pride and it's almost overwhelming.

It's not really against a whole continent. How many people in Poland, the Balkans, Ukraine, Hungary, Western Russia, etc... play golf? It's really USA versus Western Europe and Scandinavia.

 

And considering the top 3 ranked players in the world are from the States, the population of the USA and how many people golf there it should be more than fair.

Boring? It wasn't really close or competitive, granted. But the shots being made, long putts dropping and chip in's Sunday were amazing. I have never seen such clutch play from so many players ever.
