Swing this 41.25" club like a 3 iron

My first post. Before I start I want to thank you all. My principal research site is GolfWRX. It has become part of my day...

Here are my numbers:

105 Driver SS
11 Handicap
6 pack per round

I just got Adams V3 19* and 22* hybrids. I only played them once. I was by myself so I could try them from likely positions and lies of my new home course (over and over) until the group behind me showed up. I hit them poorly. I had an 07 TM hybrid 4 previously. Not my favorite club, it was hard not to hook. Someone offered me advice to hit it like a 7 iron. Worked well. I used to carry a 5 wood. The rough at the new course is thick bent. I (and my wife) need new hybrids. Sorry for the long lead-in, here is my question. How can you say hit your hybrid like an iron, but the length of my hybrid is 41.25 and the iron it is replacing is 38.75? All of my swings with the Adams V3s felt like the club(s) were too long.

I want to cut the length of my hybrids. Likely 1-2" to get them close to the iron lengths, but everything I have read says changing the club length that much will adversly affect the club. I thought I could buy a Matrix Radix shaft (to match the driver/3 wood) but I couldn't figure out how I could cut them down and keep the same swing weight. Fortunately, I stopped thinking about it before my head exploded.

you might want to reconsider cutting an inch or two. if you do that you might hit a touch more consistently but you will no doubt lose at least 10 yards in distance thus it won't be a true replacement of the long iron you took out of the bag. consider taking more than one round and put in more swings to get used to the new clubs and be more cognizant of where the ball impacts the clubface. If your consistently hitting the ball on the heel of the club, then you might consider shortening the club, but I would start in half inch increments. good luck with the new sticks!

Going to 40-40.25" is a good idea and Radix hb is an excellent choice. With that shaft you'll want something around 234 gm headweight for D2, so you'll want to hotmelt or whatever. Result should be a very well balanced club which really replaces a 2i/5w/7w, not a 4i

You could keep long irons in the bag rather than hybrids. How do you hit your long irons? Alternatively the Mizuno MP Fli-Hi (or JPX Fli-Hi) is a long iron replacement whose length is the same as the iron it replaces. I've gone through many hybrids (TM, Cleveland, Cobra, Adams, Ping) but now playing the JPX Fli-Hi and finally hitting hybrid with consistency.
