Nickent 3DX Ironwood

A mid-handicappers review
I've been looking to replace my horribly off-set hybrid for some time now, and have tried a number of different options - Callaway Heavenwood, Sonartec MD, Adams, Mizuno Fli-Hi CLK - I also tried the Nickent, admittedly not on the course, and on a simulator. But the results I got from there really made me narrow it down to the NIckent and the Sonartec, the only main difference for me being the price. The MD was $100 NZD more than the Nickent - so that was a no-brainer!!

So, how does it look - this club is beautiful to look at. The colouring is great, and really frames the ball well. The clubface is very square, which give me LOTS of confidence - my old hybrid was very offset and I had all sorts of trouble aligning myself to get it to go straight - no such problems with the Nickent. I have the Aldila NV 75S hybrid shaft in there, and this performs really really well.

Now to the performance - have I mentioned how easy this thing is to line up? Well I'll mention it again - it's easy, period. Nickent have an unbelievably good club here. The Nickent feels really hot off the face, and the 17* is really long - I've hit it 4 times in 2 rounds, and the distances have been 200 into the wind, 215 to pin high on a par 5, 210 off the tee into the wind, and 205 into a slight wind on another par 5 (all in metres). My best hits have hit this lovely little draw, probably about 5-10 metres right to left, and on the courses I play this is perfect for 3 out of the 4 par 5's, and also really good for tee shots on some of the shorter par 4's. My "misses" have a little cut, again ony about 5-10 metres which again is fine.

All in all this is a great club, very easy to hit, even being the 17* I can get it up in the air and carrying a nice distance - for me this is much easier to hit than the Callaway - also, for a mid-handicapper like me this is very forgiving, I've only really had one "miss" and the result was fine - made a birdie on a par 5 so I can't really complain about that.

For all of you guys looking to replace long irons, or simply to add another long club to your bag I would highly recommend this, it's easy to hit, is very long, and is very forgiving. What more can you ask for?

I agree. Nickent has got the hybrid right. Golfers of all levels should try this club out when thinking of purchasing a hybrid. If it is not your favorite I will be suprised.

I have 17 steel 3dx, not surprise about the forgiveness. In fact. If I didn't hit it right, it will go wild -- I mean slice or hook, by a hybrid.

Now it's in my closest, and cobra baffler 16 is in my bag. My best shot can carry 220, but that's not the point. Cobra will always go straight even for a very bad shot such that my next shot is still on short grass rather than in woods.

Nickent was hit or miss for me. I have a 20* that I love and is in the bag. I had the 17* and I couldn't hit it well at all. It was probably due to different shafts - Proforce vs. NV

Anyways, I do like the way Nickent lines up at address and the head size is perfect for my eye. I've tried other hybrids and just seemed a little too big. But that's just me.

I love mine. Love is something I have never had for a hybrid before. I tried the Tour Nickent which was great too, but my retail 21.5 has earned a permanent spot in my bag. Now matter what the lie, it goes straight and 200-215 yards for me. It might not always feel perfect, might not be a Titliest for a TM, and might have a cr@ppy stock steel shaft, but it just plain works.

I had tried all the major hybrids and disliked them all. I tried the Nickent and there was no comparison. I can't add anything that hasn't already been posted here. All you have to do is see what I'm playing to know I'm sold on these hybrids.

Early in hand photos of the new GT2 models t the truck.  As soon as they show up on the range in player's bags we'll get some better from the top photos and hopefully some comparison photos against the last model.
