IS IT Possible? (Extending a 33" putter to 35")

can i buy a 33" putter with a 350 gram head and get it reshafted to make it play like 35". is this even possible?

Replacement shafts are very inexpensive. You could try to extend it but, easier to reshaft.

Reshafting is easier than extending most of the time. Your going to need a new puttershaft,Scotty uses a YSC 325 True Temper shaft. That is a shaft they pretty much only sell to club makers. You might want experiment with a new UST shaft or get a True Temper from Golfsmith or Golfworks. Pick yourself up a new grip and your on the way. You can always put the original back on if you sell it.

How about extending a 35" putter to 48"? I was thinkin of gettin the XG #7 and making it into a long putter.

I've got one that thats been done to. Not a problem at all. Just hate putting those friggin grips on. LOL

YOu need at least 365 gr putter head weight for a 48 inch long putter to get a better feel and you need to change your lie more up right most likely.

It is a double bend shaft so the lie angle can be easily adjusted by foot :beach:

 

As to head weight I was thinking of dropping something really heavy down the shaft + a little lead tape at the bottom of the sole and "forks".

 

Don't tell our friend. He still thinks the Napa I got off him is still in play. He might buy it back if he knows it might get replaced soon. In fact I've had the 360TR in play the last 6xs out.

Someone here keeps getting the shakes because he only gets to visit you 1x a year. He has found a replacement doctor locally. It took someone who worked on the APGA tour to get him rave about someone who comes close to your work. Note I said close.

To much down in the shaft is no good IMO.

 

Basically, it's all depends on how much adjustment need it.

 

Willy boy has been behaving lately? I hope so, he is getting old and need to slow down. LOL!

XTours, I5s (2 sets), 735, TM300s (2sets), Fourteen Blades, Honma (4sets), Cleveland CG4, Kenneth Smith Blades, Older Titleist Forged Blades, Z101s (I miss those), X Blades (those too), MP27s, and MP32s (thats makes 3 that used to be mine). I'm pretty sure I missed a couple.

 

He even called me up today to ask my opinion on Nike ProCombo OS. He doesn't have a set of Nikes anymore. He sold the blades a while back and during my look see I walked out with his SS Tours. :beach:

He had to move to a bigger house thoug. I would love to post pics of his putter collection one of these days. Not as big as Reid's but the quality of his 30 or so putters are awesome. The Oil Can Napa I had to beg to buy was so so in that collection. I should beg for the BB2 next time.

I saved my Scotty Cord No Cord grip and extended my newport 33" to 34" with an extension. Works great!

i extended my newport 2 from 33" to 35". works perfectly and easy to do. just got to a local golf shop, they should be able to do it for you no problem

I always just use a butt extension for my putters. Never had a problem.
