Is anyone here using the new Tad Moore hickories and can you comment on the fun factor/playability?  I was on his website yesterday and had to use a towel to keep my keyboard dry. 😂

 

Not much more expensive than any name brand new set out there and much better looking except for age patina.  Seriously considering starting a Christmas account to get a set of his stuff next fall.  Toss them in with my older Otey Crisman hickory putter and a vintage looking stovepipe bag to be located.  I was searching eBay for hickory sets and just shy away from the unknown quality of the offerings, then having to rework all of it.

I have a set of the OA irons and have played with them for over 10 years. Wonderful clubs and Tad is always ready to talk about your needs and make sure you get the best clubs possible for your needs. He also participates in this message board and has been a long-term supporter of hickory golf. 

 

You can't go wrong with these clubs.

I wouldn't buy on eBay either but there are some trusted sellers out there.  I got my play set from the Hickory Hacker.  I'd rather play original hickories than remakes.

I personally prefer to play my original irons and have several sets purchased through the hickory network up here. I use replica woods frequently since they stand up to frequent play and I usually use my original woods for special events.

 

Tad makes good clubs and I have several friends that play the OA irons and they are great clubs (MacGregor replicas).  His woods are fantastic and I have several. If you play a lot of hickory (I play 100+ rounds per year) the replica woods are an authentic experience and durable. Bear in mind that the irons are cast, not forged like the original OA’s. They still have good feel and play well but I prefer authentic irons. That said, I have a set of replica irons for cooler and wetter weather, less maintenance.

 

I am not a fan of buying hickory clubs online, the network of knowledgeable hickory guys is a far better source.
