Slighter thread again

I didn't get to see the TESS picture clearly
I know this is controversial.

I feel however that the issue needs to be addressed and not swept under the rug. For the benefit of Slighter fans and critics.

I had a quick glance at the TESS screenshot before it was deleted. I didn't get to check out the details though.

Does anyone have a link? I would love to see the dates of application and when it was granted. It would help clear it up a bit.

The Slighter fans say stop bashing in this thread and start your now.

That is what I am doing.

I just want to find out the dates on the Scotty Crown trademark. It was deleted in the Slighter thread.

Tom Slighter is a great guy. No question about that. That is not the issue. I know a lot of great guys that buy counterfeit DVDs. I just tell them to try to avoid doing that. Do I think less of them, hard to say until I know all the facts surrounding the circumstances. That is what I'm trying to get to here. What was the surrounding circumstance when Tom Slighter added the crown? The SC trademark dates will be a big part of that.

Posting of the SC Crown trademark dates should not bother him or his fans, in fact if the trademarks were shown to have been granted in the past few months it will validate that Tom Slighter did not infringe on anything when he added the Scotty Crown on that Cameron putter.

If you notice I DID NOT BASH SLIGHTER. As I mentioned in another thread I had a good email exchange with him 2 years back about a Redmond. That is why this gets to me.

I just found out from a friend this past weekend that he refused my friend request to put Tiger Woods on a SLIGHTER putter when my friend made the request over a year ago. What makes that different?

It is hard for me to accept that a man who seems to be a great guy would allow himself and his work to be muddied up by controversies like this.

Now can we just get the dates posted. That is all I am asking for in this thread. I will form AND NOT POST MY OPINION after the dates/screenshots have been shown.

So are we considering this swept?

I wouldn't say "we". No offense..but it seems like you're one of the few if not only one who really has taken this subject above and beyond where it needs to be.

I think we all agree that Slighter makes a good product that can stand alone on it's own merits. He's done and is still doing some things that are borderline infringing on other putter makers patents. ie....cherry dots, c-grooves. But..if not for him...there are still dozens of others that can do the same with a portable mill, drill press, and stamp kit.

The words..."beating a dead horse" comes to mind. Like I said..no offense..JAT. :(

I don't gain anything except the truth.

I didn't start the contoversy. Tom Slighter did when he started doing all these stampings. It is unfortunate for Tom, but with his gain in popularity what he has done in the past will be brought up.

We all question the SCs copies of Pings, the RJB and SC break up, the Byron ideas being grabbed by someone else, etc. This is just another issue brought before a putter maker. If FACTs are brought up about it the better right. The TESS dates are facts.

Let me ask, why do you care? Are you related to Tom? Do you like having 7,8,or 9 point crowns being added aftermarket to your SC? I think your answer would probably be all no.

I assume you are a Slighter fan. Being a fan I think you should be even more eager to clear things up. The faster these things are cleared up the better for the issue to be settled.

The thing is I am not a SC fan, I'm a Bettinardi man. You can imagine my reaction if Slighter starts milling honeycomb patterns on putters or at least the Tour Only Soft Carbon stamping with the A or the U sideways.

No offense. It was just that a fact was brought to light in a thread. The TESS screenshot was erased. I don't know why. I didn't get to see the dates.

Why have I taken it above and beyond, like I said in the previous post the TRUTH.

Yes, anyone can do the stampings. Yes, I will also raise my voice against any putter maker that does so.

Slighter in his reply to me said

"Hello Toby.

I appreciate your email and your concern.

I will certainly take your request into consideration.

However, please understand I must also respect the

rights and requests of all my customers. I will do my

best to accommodate a customers request within

reason and not to violate any copyrights or patents.

Thank you Toby.

Trademark was of course not mentioned. Should I ask him if trademarks are included?

Please post the TESS screenshot that was posted by RobotDoctor. If not the dates of application and granting (if it has been granted) will suffice.

That is all that I have been asking for, then I will request for this thread to be closed.

As it seems that only you and RobotDoctor seem to be terribly pressed by the issue, let's let it rest. Tom seemed to answer your question fully, and it has now become an argument in semantics. If you want a screenshot so bad, drop RobotDoctor a PM, I'm sure he'll email it to you. :)
