Lighted Ranges in Jacksonville

This early darkness is killing me

Hey all, I'm a transplant down here in Jax and am not liking this early darkness. In Minnesota, I had a couple of indoor ranges I could go to and hit balls during the winter. Can anyone tell me of a place that's lit where I could hit balls after work? Thanks.

Second the UNF driving range, it's one of the nicest ranges Ive been to and the guys there are really cool.

Any chance they have a practice area with a mirror? Being able to practice in front of a mirror works wonders for me.

Yeah, bring bug spray. Another thing about the UNF driving range is that the soil is near clay. It isn't regular 'ol dirt, its clay and it makes for a tougher shot and you have to clean your club after every shot... gets a bit old. About the clay, to elaborate: It it thicker so you have to swing harder or something, it doesn't replicate a normal shot. On the 4 hole course at UNF they have normal soil, strange. One last word, the prices at UNF are pretty high. I remember them charging you to just go practice your chipping and putting.

How's the neighborhood there? I was talking to some fam and it said it was a rough part of town, but I'm not too sure, which is why I'm asking around.

Good to know... Have you (anyone) played there before? How's the conditions, course layout, people (competitive, relaxed, etc...) ?

The conditions are fine, fairways are alright, greens are in good condition and rolling about average speed. Course layout is nice, a couple holes are pretty challenging and of course you have some easy holes. It can be pretty crowded and they'll pair you up with someone if it is a weekend. The atmosphere is relaxed and overall pretty chill.

UNF, bug spray

OK, so I've been to both UNF and Masterfit. I like UNF, but have only gone during the day so haven't experienced the bad bugs you speak of. It's a little costly there for a bucket of balls, but I like that they have hitting mats. I normally don't care much for hitting mats, but my elbow has been really sore lately and a mat allows me to practice with minimal impact on my elbow (my misses are fat shots. It's my biggest problem I have to fix).

I had masterfit bend my clubs flatter and the service was great. I knew they needed to be bent quite a bit flat, but he was a little paranoid about it so he had me come in the next day and actually hit the clubs. He put a board down and we went club by club and he'd bend it, try it out and see where I was hitting it and then adjust. We wound up at 3.5* flat and now I'm striping the ball.

One more question, does anyone know of a covered range where you can hit when it's raining? Seems to be doing a lot of that lately and I'd love to be able to find a place I can go where the hitting area is covered.
