I'm a huge Ellen fan so was tickled pink to see her do it on her second try... and I was wondering if they asked Tiger how high the center circle should be - granted it's amazing that he did it twice but was the height something he requested? just curious... :drinks:

Being cynical, my guess is that the centre circle was set at the correct height given the distance and club Tiger was hitting. Given that, it's a pretty big margin for error. I often hit into a net and I'd say that 9 times out of ten I could hit through a circle that big with any club (if the circle was put in the right place for the club).

 

An example of this was at a course I was a member at a couple of years ago, about 30-40 yards down the fairway from the tee box was a phone line on telegraph poles. From the back of the tee box with my driver I could hit that line 1 in 5 times. There was a local rule that if you hit it you could re-hit your shot and in a match I did it twice in a row, I think it sort of got to my opponent.

 

Ellen's shot was pure fluke.
