Who can put sound slot in this putter? Pics included..

Wanting a sound slot in this Ping putter. Wondering if you guys could suggest someone. Also, are there different types of sound slots? Wondering how the thickness of the slot would effect feel/sound. Curious if there are any options that may effect the end result. Mostly just wanting some ideas of who to send the putter to. Thanks for any comment.

i would think you of all people would be first to send it to lamont. if not him, slighter is your best bet. if he wont do it, no one will.

I would suggest Tom Slighter for this particular job. He is a master of the putter mod and one of my mentors, so to speak. One of the sharpest guys in the putter game and does incredible work.
Tell him that LaMont sent you. He'll get a kick out of it, .

I bet he would get a kick out of that. Figured you were busy, I read here, I know how many putters lay before you. I got a $25 putter and I need a slit cut in it. Wanting it done quickly and probably not going to bother with a refinish at this time. Sent a tei3 to Kevin the other day, but he doesn't do sound slots and the machine shop he was using closed recently. That got me thinking outside the box (you and Kevin are the box)... ha ha....

Not a problem, whatsoever. I was cutting a slot, recently and the blade bound up and bent my arbor. I have not had time to replace it, so Tom is an excellent choice. He is always a great choice, just now he is my "default" go-to guy, :good: .
He is fast and can flat-out do amazing work.
I may start referring all of my TeI3 inquiries to Kevin. No more TeI3's for me. I knew I had put that on my site for a reason, but just recently was reminded why. No Mas, No Mas, LOL.

A sound slot does not mean that you will hear a sound when putting. The ping sound (and name) comes from the model 1 or 1a, which is still sold. The slot in other models does look cool though and the Anser 2 is still the best putter Ping has ever made.

While it won't be the same, or near the same, as the PING 1-A, you WILL have a noticeable change in sound when striking the ball, with a sound slot, if cut near enough to the face. That tiny slot is enough to change it ever so slightly and the change is one that some guys really like. I rolled a Cameron Studio Stainless Newport Beach for a year or two and it was one of Scotty's best OTR putters ever, IMHO.
Not a drastic change, but enough to make a difference.
