B S Mentor made in Scotland any ideas?

Hi yesterdayI picked up a bunch of 16 assorted clubs for £10, in the bunch was a set of 3 (1,3,5) persimmon woods. On the sole is stamped B S (under a crown) and Made in Scotland, on the toe it says Mentor. R-W-R insert, DG R300U shaft.

I have looked on google but cant find anything that comes close to a maker.

[size="3"]Ben Sayers indeed,their factory used to be Tantallon Road,North Berwick,wonderful place to golf just down the road from Muirfield and Gullane and North Berwick West links an Open qualifier.At the other end of the town is The Glen,a public course with some of the most stunning scenery you will find anywhere in the world with views across the Forth over to the Paps of Fife and also the Bass Rock.
If I recall correctly,the Mentor irons were produced by Sayers with input from Ray Floyd who was signed to represent them at that time,I think the 1980's,it was their effort to compete in a market that was dominated by America either in the form of the clubs imported into the UK or the names of the players associated with them,Palmer,Nicklaus,Weiskopf,Johnny Miller had a Slazenger set named after him,Trevino and Player were with John Letters for a time,Jacklin and Bob Charles with Dunlop.
British companies found it hard to compete with the quality products from Macgregor,Spalding and Wilson,most of the UK made irons were cast and better players preferred the forged irons which also appeared to be better matched sets and with better woods,US manufacturers also had a head start because they had adopted the 1.68" ball some time before the UK.
They look to be really nice woods and a great reminder of times gone by.[/size]

Thanks for the info, I have not yet had them out on the course yet but they do feel and look like they mean business when held at address, which I guess is half the battle
