US STAND BAGS FOR 2012

Princeton TN

Recommended Posts

I would like to think that I am not alone, so please let me know... In my recent quest for a new bag for the upcoming season, I started out thinking a great stand bag, as I have several Staff Bags and while I enjoy the looks that I sometimes get when carrying one, when traveling via the airlines now I am not about to fork out $100.00 and in some cases more, each way to carry a Staff Bag... So I stumble upon Staff Stand Bags!!!! Awesome, simply is an understatement, but they are not for the US Market, most are for the Japan/Asian Market and a few make it to the EU Markets... Can someone with insider knowledge from the Golf Manufacturers please enlighten this "Poor Boy from Mississippi" and tell me why would you not offer these types of bags to those of us dumb enough to buy them here in the US?

I have included a few pics of these bags, just in case you have not seen one yet, please lets start the revolt and maybe by next year, we can have a few of these gracing the pages of GolfWRX and the Average Joe's WITB...

Please, please fellow GolfWRX-rs, whatchu say? Am I the only one that thinks these bags are "Sick", and hate the fact that our Golfing Brothers across either pond get access to these primo bags, and we are left with the lonely Datrex? And I am not knocking a Datrex, but it is a far cry from any one of these bags below!

May you all hit it straight, and may you sink that birdie on number 18 for your career round this year!

I await your thoughts!!!

I agree- The Taylormade bags you posted are sick! I asked Adams why they didn't offer a stand bag version of their staff bag. All I got in return was it is not in the line for 2012. Too bad especially considering their current bags stink.

Where do I go to order one. I love the look of a staff bag, but hate the steamer trunk size. I think this is a great idea, especially if both side look alike. I'm 47 and like to walk but use a Sun Mountain cart and am in the market for a new bag.

Again, I ask, where do I go to order one or at least look at what's available. That TourStage bag is awesome.

I just bought a cleveland " black staff bag" great size and look. Does not have stand legs but is smaller than a standard tour staff bag.

I understand that, but what looks good, looks good and we all want a bag that is functional and looks like we have a little class! So why doesn't the OEM's make bags like this for sale in the US, do you know... Only place I can find is Tourstage and ProgolfJapan that sell these!

Your words are lost on me mate. I've been in Paris for the last few months. Gear here is so basic. No such thing as putter collections. It's all stock shafts and standard lies, so don't complain about the US! You can actually say bettinardi, vega, epon ...and people won't look at you like you're playing some cheap second rate gear!! Haha. As for US v Japan. All I can say is the Japanese have class when it comes to golf. They also spent 8k on equipment without blinking. So there's a market for high end, a market for exclusive. I've been to Japan and buy lots of my gear directly from there. You'd be amazed to see how mint they are. From etiquette to style via clubs and bags. Nice. How often do you see a 5ft 50 year old hitting a set of flat back blades while rocking a golf bag with red dragons on it in the us?

Just be careful ordering stand bags from Japan sight unseen. I love them as well, but if you think you can carry Japanese stand bags, you may need to think again. Many so called stand bags in Japan are actually Tour Bags with legs! Meaning they are just as big and clumsy as tour bags and ONLY advantage they have is they have a stand.

I bought one a couple years ago and to be used on a course that's primarily a walking course with caddies and caddies just looked at me, looked at the bag and chuckled. That being said, my bag looks great now sitting in my garage!

You can find them on eBay from time to time but you will pay through the nose for them. They are expensive already and with the shipping cost from Japan they can be $500-$600 at times.

+1 - all of these bags are in the 8-9lb range so they are not what I would call easy walkers. Keep that in mind before you plunk down your change.
