New (Original) tee boxes re opened

Here are a few pics of original tee boxes that for probably 30+ years have been covered with bushes, brush, sticks, ect. The Maint crew has been clearing a way to these tees and I think they will be re opened this year. This is my local 9 hole muni (1st hole) that I grew up as a kid playing. I still play there regularly during the season. Its a really great well maintained 9 hole old scottish type course that was build I believe during the 30s or 40s. I think some of you will like the look of these old tees. They remind me of the Hickory type tee boxes framed in stone. These new tees are about 25 feet above and behind the current tee box. They will provide a dramatic elevated tee shot. The hole is a par 4 which plays about 360 yards.

Geezz.. the more I look at them the more I think I've seen tee boxes like that before somewhere around here.
Fred - that top picture - is that a "two tier tee box"? Ladies & Men? Nah... can't be.... their side by side.. hmm?
The topography looks familiar too! We live along [/size][url="http://brucetrail.org/places/9"][size="4"]The Bruce Trail/Niagara Escarpment[/size][/url][size="4"] that runs from Tobermory, Ontario down and into Eastern United States. I wonder if where you live is near the trail/escarpment I'm referrring to? Anyway, we have a little 9 hole beauty up here that has been around since 1932 called," St. Davids GC". Nestled right into the Niagara escarpment. Sometimes, the older smaller golf courses provide Donna and I with all the challenge and charm we want at that particular time.

Your response cracked me up. I live on the ocean not too far away from Boston, Ma., its very rocky around here. I think our topography is very similar to yours. They are two tier tee boxes. For years when I was in my 20s and early 30s, I didn't want to go near this old track. I always had to seek out the 7000 yard course, I have definitely re kindled the appreciation for this gem as did my brother, my best golfing buddy.

The old tees will be a blast from the past this summer.

Bella, yes, its a few yards over 3000 from the Men's (back) tee's. For a short course, there are few good grip it and rip it opportunities, you'll hit just about all the shots in your bag, very enjoyeble round. I know you would really like it, especially with a bag full of Hickories.

I'm huge fan of elevated tees, it's a rare treat when you get to see the entire hole...BB
