Orlando April 2007 Golf trip

please recommend courses and a tour operator?

Hello ... 4-8 of us are planning on a april golf trip to orlando... Can someone name a few good courses and a tour operator or two to book through? Any other info needed, just ask me! we are going 3 nights/ 3 rounds... budget wise, i'd say middle budget and always 1 first rate course out of the 3 we play...

Hawks Landing at the Marriott World Center, near Disneyworld. Awesome course, great service, and reasonable rates I recommend it the entire way. Hawks Landing

Here's a list of courses, in no particular order:

Shingle Creek

Orange County National (Panther Lake & Crooked Cat)

Champions Gate (National & International)

The Disney Courses

MetroWest

Falcon's Fire

I've played all of the above and they are good tracks. There will be price differences, but all are quality courses with appropriate rates.

As far as a tour operator, I don't know of anyone. A friend of mine is a corporate booking agent at the Gaylord Palms Hotel, which is a very nice place. I think she handles large bookings, but I'm sure she knows someone who could handle a smaller number of rooms. Let me know if you need some help.

I think Bay Hill is a resort as well as a private club. I played there a couple of years ago in the summer for $200, which included one night's accommodation in the Lodge, free breakfast and a round of golf (plus a photo of the 18th green autographed by Mr. Palmer. Best $200 I ever spent.

Not sure if you can play there unless you are a resort guest, but that course is well worth playing.

I live in Orlando and will tell you that Orange County National is the best value in Orlando. Their are two courses and has a practice facility second to none. They hold the PGA Q-School their every other year...it is a beautiful, challenging course.

Mystic Dunes and Falcons Fire are nice resort courses. Mystic Dunes has undulating greens which makes it challenging. Falcons Fire is overpriced in my opinion...you can do better for a $100 green fee.

If you have to choose 3 courses go with...

Eagle Creek

MetroWest

Orange County National(they have 36 but both courses are really nice)

I live here and have no conflict of interest nor do I work for any golf operation.I play 3-4 days per week and here is the deal:

1-First day play Falcons Fire,,,good layout,,good service and fun but challenging.Rees Jones design.

2-Second day should be Orange County National at THE PANTHER.Forget Crooked Cat unless you are a fan of uphill,blind tee-shots,,forced carrys and target golf.For what its worth many of the local tour players play and practice at OCN,,but their favorite is The Panther.Also,,the scenery is bland but the course is very challenging but fair.It is pure golf here.

3-The Palm at Disney is a great last day experience.The Funai is played there ,,the layout is outstanding and fun and the ambience is great.It is truly a great finish to a 3-day trip.

As far as the others,,,well Metrowest would be a good consolation.Shingle Creek is a poor layout and they tried to squeeze 18 holes onto 12 holes of land.I NEVER play this course,,it is just poor.

There are a lot of other great courses in the area but with just 3 days these are what I would choose if I only had 3 days.

PS,,,all three of these courses are usually in EXCELLENT condition and the greens run at a minumim of 9-10 on a stimp scale.
