Manassero or Cantlay

Matteo is currently in 4th place a few shots behind and is several holes ahead of the leaders. A strong finish could allow him to post a challenging score for the leaders.

i think in terms of talent there both amazing but i will have to give the edge to cantlay because of his distance, matteo just doesnt have the length to be a top player!

Yesterday on Morning Drive, Tim Rosaforte was pretty eager to pass the expectations everyone had of Rickie Fowler right down the line to Bud Cauley....who is a rookie. "When is he going to win?"

As an amateur Manassero has done better than Cantlay at both the Masters and British Open.
Cantlay has only done better than him at the US Open so far.
I'd say the comparisons should wait until Cantlay turns pro. For now Manassero holds many more records than Cantlay...

Better hope Cantlay turns pro and gets his card this year - otherwise he'll be stuck on the Nationwide or other tours until at least 2014. Maybe he can join the last 'can't miss' amateur Peter Uihlein in Europe where he is currently ranked 275th.

For every college star turn PGA Tour star there are 50 college stars turned mini tour grinder.

Anyway, looks like he has a press conference Tuesday, turning pro with Steinberg as his agent so we should get a better idea soon of how he handles playing in the big time all the time.

one major thing i have against Cantlay is the fact he looked to me and to a lot of people watching he almost gave up at the Walker cup, out of all the US players he seemed down and hated he conditions the most... he struggled... Uhlein impressed me the most but he has really disappeared so it will all come down to what they are like in 5 years!!!

Assuming that he is turning pro, it will be interesting to see how he does. There aren't going to be a lot of tournaments the two will play together expect for the majors and thw WGCs, unless Cantlay doesn't get his PGA Tour card and goes over to Europe to play. Should be interesting though.

Cantlay doesn't get in on his amateur form now. I'd like to see him do well, but I suspect it might be quite a while before he is playing majors and WGC events.

Oh I know, I was referring to both having the chance to qualify for them. At this point, Manassero will only be exempt for the PGA as he's in the top 100, but he had to qualify for the US Open and the Open shortly after.
Regarding the WGCs, Matteo turned pro in May 2010 and made his appearance at the Accenture in 2011, so it shouldn't be a problem for Cantlay to do the same, right?
I expect Cantlay to be inside the top 100 within the end of the season if he turns pro. Matteo was ranked 88 after 6 months and two weeks.
