Manassero or Cantlay

Matteo sure has fallen. Now 388th in the world. I'd love to hear him explain things.

Cantlay, on the other hand, is only moving up. He will become what Putz imagined.

Seems like a victim of the modern power game. Short knockers are at a huge disadvantage against bombers who play all the par 5s like par 4s. Even as good as his short game was, it was the par 5s where prime Tiger separated from the field. After Tiger started the power game guys like Justin Leonard and Faldo faded away quickly.

I know everyone will mention Spieth, but he isn't really a short hitter. He isn't super long like Rory/Day/DJ, but he is long enough to handle the modern Tiger proofed courses.

Manassero still has 4 wins to Cantlay's 1 on the major Tours. Includes BMW PGA Championship, much bigger event than the Shriners Open. And he's 1 year younger than Cantlay.

No question who is trending better at the moment, but it's easy to forget just how young Manassero still is.

Cantlay basically missed three years because of injury to.

I remember when and why this thread was started.... Funny how things go full circle.

LOL way to bring up an old thread. Cantlay with the win! Manassero OTOH hasn't even win on the Euro tour since 2013. Really struggled since going from young superstar to still young but ranked outside 800 OWGR. He's really a short knocker (pro wise) at about 280. Strange since he's 6'1", lanky, and quite talented.

1986 a multitude of the greatest programmers and names in the programming world in the world was given the question ”what will be big in 10 years”. No one even came close to WWW - There are no crystal balls doing their job properly.

That said, it’s strange when prodigys disappear. Wonder if Matteo will come back.

_Cantlay > Cauley > Uihlein > Speith > Mannassero_

_I'll take Bud Cauley against either one_

_How is this even up for debate? Manassero has accomplished more in an amazingly short amount of time. He contends on a regular basis week in week out and has one of the best swings in the game. Once he gains some distance, he'll be even better._

i mean he dropped off the map like four years ago. Hard to believe an impending marriage has much to do with it and it's not like he's got enough money from golf to not have to ever play again. Of course unless he has outside interests that are bringing in dough.

Exactly, his priorities changed after Wentworth. Pitty.

Lot of good young golfers out there currently. Thomas and Koepka can be added. Cantlay was hurt so he seems to be a better choice as of right now between him and Manassero. The world ranking bear this out.
