depending on the weight the devotion is a totally different animal. i have a devotion 65 05 flex and a tour ad di 7x, both untipped and they play very similar. However the devotion 75 gram 05 flex is a totally different animal.

The engineers from a pretty well respected OEM pegged DI7 as having a stiffer tip than Whiteboard 73. Don't think that's true Shaftology?
[/quote]
Nope. But they are very close in tip profile. The rest of the shaft profile shows the Whiteboard significantly firmer in the mid-section than the DI, in our testing. Shaft profiles are different from one testing method to another so that might be the difference. I can tell from playing experience that the DI-7 launches higher than the Whiteboard or the Ahina 70.

if you want low launch, try devo 7
mid launch DI 7
the 6 in both is a lot softer
depends what you are looking for, your SS, tempo, etc....

the 6 series in both of these shafts felt soft to me in the X. the 7 was way better. i load the shaft pretty hard, so i don't like light shafts.

there are lots of great shafts out there, no telling which one might work best for you, BUT once you go down this road, there is no going back!

My 10 Swing average was 106. I dont need an X. I currently play a aldila proto and like it. My teacher said I need a mid/high kick point and something with low spin. Very smooth tempo. I dont know a lot about shafts in comparison to most of you, but know more than the average golfer. I know the best thing to do would be to get fitted however I would rather play around. I noticed you guys mentioned the whiteboard..I am not opposed to giving that a shot either.

Keep the input coming!

Thanks

I suppose it really depends on release. Actually had a fitting today with 910 stuff where a player was really launching Whiteboard 73 lower than DI-7. But had quite a few with opposite results, the beauty of being able to try and demo.

I have tried both extensively and based on your swing, I would think that the AD-DI would be a better fit. It has more of a mid kick point with a stip tip, which in turn promotes higher launch while maintaining low spin. The Devo and Whiteboards have higher kick points, which work better for players with quicker tempos and hard transitions. I, unlike you, have a quick tempo and hard transition - the Devos and Whiteboard type shafts work great for me - if I get to quick or too steep, they are simply pulls or weak fades. On the other hand, if I got too quick or steep with the DI, it was an automatic re-tee as it would go 100 yards OB left. If you don't load a Whiteboard or Devo hard, they will produce low/weak fades right.

If you want lowish launch with very low spin and silky smooth feel, try the fuji vc 7.2, stiff should be enough with that SS and a smooth tempo. This shaft is SICK, I have lots of driver shafts and this shaft has the best feel and performs as well as anything. It has a mid/high kick and LOW spin. For me it is the best all around shaft I have ever hit.
