Pinehurst Trip

Just some highlights of the trip.

Just got back from our first trip Pinehurst NC. Absolutely loved it. Played Tobacco Road, Pine Needles and Legacy.
Enjoyed the uniqueness of Tobacco Road. If you enjoy target golf with blind shots or forced carries on 90% of the course, this course is for you.
Pine Needles is my new favorite course. Got to play PN at 7AM, the first two groups out. The greens were flawless. The group ate lunch at the Donald Ross grill at Pinehurst and soaked in the history and memorabilia of the clubhouse. Went back to Pine Needles and played an extra 18 in the afternoon.
The only thing that was somewhat disappointing was Legacy. I'm not sure that is was because the group was in love with the first two courses or just spoiled. Legacy's new greens putted true as advertised. The course just felt like there wasn't a uniqueness to the course. It felt like we played similar holes at different golf clubs.
We are already talking about a return trip and of course adding Pinehurst #2. We were also thinking of trying Mid-Pines and Dormie Club.

Just got back, too. Played Dormie, # 2, Needles/Mid-Pines (36 on Saturday) and finished with # 8. Couldn't imagine a better lineup!

We just got as well a few weeks ago. Played Southern Pines, Mid Pines, National, Dormie Club and Tobacco Road. Dormie Club is a must play, fantastic course with an amazing staff.

Got back last week myself...played #2, #3, #4, #6, and #7. It was a great trip and made me want to return next year.

Why no #1, #5 or #8? How did you decide to play those 5 courses? I'm guessing you played with a local member and they gave you advice?

Always heard good things about Tobacco Road. Recently played #8 and Pine Needles, looking forward to getting back up there.

Correct. Our friend is a member of #7 and got us tee-times and discounted rates on the other courses as well. #6 was almost switched for #8 but he felt #6 might be better for our first official round when our entire group was there. #3 was only played because a couple of us got down there a day early and we were looking to get in a round quickly.

I loved 3 and 7 but been too many years, I need to go back!

#3 was great...it was the perfect way to open the trip and put us in the right mindset. #2 was tough...the newly renovated waste areas/wire grass running the length of most fairways were just short of treacherous (depending on whether you were in them or not ). #6 and #7 were both great as well...but I really liked #4. The 3-4 holes that play near the ponds were my favorite. Picture perfect, really...azaleas in full bloom on a huge hill behind the water...made me want to relocate South
