Customized Fastback

So a couple days ago I got bored and decided to self-customize my Fastback No. 1. I hit a local hobby shop and got some Tamiya Clear X-___ paint in orange and green and went at it. Since I was worried about the rubber seals on the weights, I decided not to soak the head in acetone, instead choosing to individually strip the various surfaces by using a dropper to drop acetone on the paint and then letting it sit for a couple minutes. Then I used a sewing needle to get the original paint out. Once it was naked, I used a toothpick to basically drop the paint into the circles, allowing the paint to then fill in each circle. The lettering was a bit more difficult. After trying a couple different methods, I basically ended up slabbing the paint across where the lettering is, filling in the lettering and obviously having a lot of residue on the surface. Once the paint dried, I used paper towels with acetone to wipe down the club.

 

I'm a bit impatient so the paint fill could definitely have been better. But overall I'm pretty happy with the outcome . . . well worth the $5.00 + elbow grease. I'm sure I'll change it again before the year is over and now that I have an idea of how the process works I suspect the job will take much less time and go more smoothly.

You know . . . nobody comments on this for a bit and (unrelated to that) I decide I don't like the green/orange scheme so..... :D

 

I chose this scheme based on the cover I was using for it. Pathetic? Yeah, probably. :crazy:

Blue is good too! I'm not a fan of those grips, but to each his own.

I like the grip itself but the graphics/design isn't my favorite. Ideally I'd have a blue Custom Shop grip of some sort but considering I found this Iomic for $11 at my local Golfsmith I'm not going to complain too much.
