Never Compromise GM2 Exchange Series

So I tried out the GM2 Exchange 1 and 4 yesterday. I really wanted to try out the 3 but they were out. I tried them out with the heavy weights installed. Overall I have to say I was quite impressed with them. The feel was a tad on the hard side but of course I was putting with TopFLights and such. Not as hard as a Yes but harder then a SS Cameron. What I really liked was the heavy weight. I like my putters in the 350-360 gram range so they felt great to me. I made more putts with the GM2 4 as any other putter they had that I tried. I almost pulled the trigger on the GM2 4 but I want to try out the others in the series first.

I really like the #4. One thing...Doesn't it really really resemble a TP Mills Softtail?

It has the weight that I want and the neck style I love ;):):stop::)

They are definitely not lookers (not bad looking though IMO) as you can see with the TP Mills comparison but if they work they will be great gamers. I may stop by Golfsmith tomorrow to see if they have the 2 and 3. Want to try those two out for sure.

I think the new Exchange 5 is a SWEET looking putter. I love the idea of changing the weight. I wonder if you can purchase an extra heavy weight and use 2 heavy weights???

  • 4 weeks later...

Here's what I like. If I want it toe heavy, it will betoe heavy, same with heel. Wonder if we could manipulate the weightings to make it a Face Balanced. HMMM>>>>>> 15 in the heel and 5 in the toe. I wonder. HMMM>>>

That wouldn't be nearly enough weight to move the CG any significant distance in order to balance it differently. These weights are primarily for adjusting the head for feel/swingweight.

im seriously thinking about buying it......... i love the feel of it

Slightly off topic but Edwin Watts has mint condition non-exchange GM2s off of the tech van, $50.

I am going to have to look into that, how do you know the differance between the stock and tech van ones? is there a differance?

I don't think the tech van ones are different than retail other than they were probably built by the tech guys. They're not tour or anything, they were used mostly as demos I think.

Had the 4 for a while. Weights do not made any significant impact on toe hang. I even tried 0-15. Maybe 5 degrees at most.

I think having a hollow sole (under the plate) takes away from the feel.

The idea and the design is great. Maybe if there was a way to put some sealing/rubber dampening on the sole plate edges, feel would improve.

Wonder if we could use the same silicone used for the inserts in tei3 and Studio Styles. Or maybe just the tube of rubber gasket compound. Might make a difference.

Rubber gasket might make more sense.

It has to be easily removeable otherwise you defeat the adjustability of the weights.

OT: I was planning to do a NC type two tone plating on my TS PV2. I wanted to keep the center part as is now to retain the mill marks and the feel. What you think Chris?

I think that would be sweet looking if the plating shop could do it correctly. Might be a little tricky getting it perfect though. You definately have the shops around you that could do it though :);)

Now back on topic :drinks: Personally, once I got the weighting to be like I want for the putter, I would seal the sole. To heck with adjustability. Once you get it set, you're set, and there would really no longer be a need to adjust them.
