How old were you when you started playing golf?

I was 9. I stopped playing for a few years during the high school age. Took golf seriously in the early 20's just to give it up for a few years once again. I just started playing seriously again this past summer at age 32.

Got an old cut down 7 iron when I was younger, but didn't really start playing until 11. After high school, it was hit or miss for a few years, then played more often. Stopped playing for about 3 years, and then started back for good this fall. New clubs, learning to ho (cool) , and got my wife and 2 sons (8 & 11) both playing. The 8 year old shot a 54 yesterday on 9 from the fronts, and if he could putt would've broke 50! He's playing with a new box set of Hagen clubs, and that's only his 2nd full 9...he's gonna be beating me like a drum one day!

i started around age 12-13.played AJGA and high school.quit about 22 started up around 26 quit again year later.started again at 32 quit again at 33.started up again at 35 and still playing at age 37.

Sorry but I got a good laugh out of that, anyway... I cant really remeber when I started but, I had a 4 or 5 club junior set and would tag along with my dad in the summer mostly when I was young . Prolly around 9 or 10 I went to a little summer golf camp for a hour a day, and got a little more interested. The last couple years I played maybe 5-10 rounds mostly in the summers as I was more focused on hockey. This past summer I droped hockey and really worked on golf and got to shooting in the 70's a couple times. I justed turned 16 and I hope Ill be playing golf for a long time to come.

This coming year will be my 20th year.

 

I was a single digit after 3 yrs of playing,about a 2 after about 4.5 yrs......now I float between a 1,0,+1

 

I could be better,.....but being a single dad(with full custody) of a soon to be 12 yr old daughter keeps me busy....as does work(greenskeeper).

 

As she gets older,.....I get more opportunities to play and practice(which I currently do very little of.(80 balls/2 weeks if I`m lucky)

shivas, you should get her playing. If she's good, girl's golf scholarships are not hard to come by.

I was a freshman in highschool and was 15. I ended that year as the number 1 player on the team. Im now 19.

I am 46yrs old now, got started when some friends at work who played asked me to go.

Took a few lessons....have been hooked ever since.

Came up with the idea of playing golf on my senior skip day in 1996 when I was 17. I played every year since but I've been playing seriously since 2003. I'm now 27 and I look forward to getting my 4 year old daughter playing this spring. All it took was looking at that ball fly in the air and I've been hooked ever since.

She also plays goal(ringette)and is quite a phenom already(Dad`s coaching and good genes....LOL).

 

She`ll probably play girl`s hockey in another year or 2.

She looks like she`ll easily get scholarship offers if she continues to play and improve like she does right now.
