Average Driver distance

FWIW, I'm also 48 yrs old (49 next month). My typical drive with a titanium driver is around 280 or so. With a persimmon, it's hard to say, as I've not been playing them lately (one is being reshafted as I speak) without hooking them off the planet. Though, when I was recently hitting balls on a monitor, my swingspeed with my 43" Ram persimmon was at 110-111 mph.

Amusingly, it was about the same for my 44" Ti driver. Funny.

I'm not a particularly small person (6' tall, 240 to 250 lbs), former baseball/softball player, I've always been able to hit the ball moderately long.

I agree with other posters that if your stated distances are with a Persimmon Driver you are about average for a recreational golfer,
since that type of driver has a fairly low MOI when not hit on center
i also agree with the poster that said that a fitting with new technology would give your distance a boost,
that said, if you are happy playing with your vintage equipment then enjoy it, play from the corresponding Tee Boxes for your driving distance (Tee It Forward Program) and have a great time out on the course.

Agree with the other posters. If you are playing persimmon anything over 200 in the fairway will give you more joy,knowing that some degree of skill was required, than a 250 yard in the rough from the new stuff. That said, I don't think I lose any real yardage over the course of a complete round. 230-260 with either the new sticks, or the persimmons. And more fairways hit with the persimmons as well. 58, 5'8", 200lbs. flexible.
