If that's unlimited golf for a year? That's awesome. I'm guessing maybe it's a limited number of rounds and or you have to pay reduced greens fees?

I'm a "Junior Member" at Toms River Country Club in NJ. I say "Junior" because that's what it's called, but I'm 21 and going into my last year of college. The junior membership applies to college students through age 22 as well. I feel like it should probably be called a student membership, haha.

But anyway, I have a completely full unlimited golf membership for $600. No food minimums, no initiation fees. Eligible for all tournaments, Club Championship, Member-Guest, Presiden't Cup, etc. Full guest privileges. The only additional costs are carts, which are $22 a person and are required Friday, Saturday, and Sunday mornings. I walk during the weekday mornings, walk friday afternoons, and just sacrifice the $44 on the weekends.

I figure with the majority of my play May - August. I'm playing about 65-70 rounds. With cart costs included, thats around $1300. That's just about $20 per round, which is spectacular in my opinion, not even considering the free range balls, and the scattered rounds I play throughout the offseason while I'm at school. Great deal.

I also have a "junior membership", however it is much different than the above described one. All members at my club under the age of 36 are "Junior members" and pay their initiation fee in pieces over the years between joining and age 36. So basically I had a 1500 initiation fee plus a once yearly contribution toward the remaining initiation fee and $260/month as dues. This is unlimited golf INCLUDING carts, which is the great part IMO, and unlimited access/guest privileges to the rest of the club. Really the only thing I don't have are "voting rights". That being said, even at a limited amount of golf or whatever the stipulations are $175 a month seems like a pretty good deal to me.

I believe it is $175/month with unlimited golf and full CC benefits. And by junior membership, it is under the age of 35. I just finished college golf and haven't had to pay for a round of golf in 5 years until now, so ive been beyond spoiled. The $175 a month still is cheaper than playing a public course 5 times a month.

I to am a Junior member that is set up pretty similar to goinlow254. There was a meaningful initation fee with half paid up front and the balance paid at 35 if I choose to become a full stockholding member. Half dues ($280) per month until I am 35, with quarterly food minimums. I am still responsible for the full fees annually for a locker, range, bagroom, etc. Plus, the club has great pool and tennis facilities for my wife and daughter to use. Considering the cost to join just 5-7 years ago I am getting a steal.

Especially in today's wintry economic climate, the cost of belonging to private golf or country clubs varies over like a 50-to-1 range depending on where you're located and what kind of club we're talking about. Not really possible to evaluate a "good deal" on such and such club in Wichita, KS if you're a member of an old-money club in Philadelphia or a bare-bones small-town club in the remote boondocks of Idaho.

I'm currently at $205 + $25 food minimum per month. Started at $175 last spring. . .not really pleased with a $30/month increase in a little over a year and the course getting more and more crowded as more members sign up. Good for the club but I'm not a big social golfer so I loved when I'd have the course practically to myself on weekends last year.

I pay $140/month for unlimited golf and cart. Downside is it's a public course, so it's somewhat busy...not really that bad, can get on just about whenever I want...play just gets slow later in the day. Pretty nice course though...and it's a great deal, considering one weekend round is $60.

MOST of the CCs around here have dumped initiations, or brought them down to very little...with perhaps about 4 exceptions. "Junior" memberships usually run to age 35...but some go to age 40. Dues are usually about half of the full dues....ranging from $150-$400/mo. Carts are extra everywhere, and food mins run from $0 to $75/mo.

$1700 / year includes unlimited golf and unlimited range balls. Very nice public course, beautiful grass range and I never need a tee time. 90% of the time I walk on and have no problem playing 18 holes. I played twice last week as a walk-on, 18 holes and both times played in 1:40. Never saw a single person on the course.

Even on the 4th of July, I walked-on at 11:00am and walked 9 holes as a single and did not get held up at all.

I used to have a junior membership (up to age 35) at a private CC in Texas. Like the OP, it was $175/month with no initiation fees and unlimited range balls. No locker fees, no food minimums, and carts were extra but not mandatory. Other than having to put with a couple of idiots who thought they owned the course, it was a great deal and it was never crowded. We always had the 7:20 tee time on weekends reserved for us. And in Texas, you can can easily play all year round.

$40 a month for unlimited golf, $100 initiation fee. Granted, the course isn't much to write home about, and if you want a cart its $15 per 9, and they charge for range balls, but I get to walk 9 2-3 nights a week and walk 18 once or twice a weekend for next to nothing, and can always get out as a single during the week without issue.

I currently only have a $42 monthly that includes all the range balls I can hit and I pay $19 for cart after 1:30 on weekends and anytime Tues - Wed. They offer $289 a month for family anytime including cart, range balls, 10 day advance tee times, and 20% off merchandise so I'm thinking about switching. Considering their peak weekend rate between open-10:30am is $61. Since my wife plays we could come out ahead.

I have to show up and work a forty hour week.
This plus I have a 45 minute drive each way. 10 hours away from the house minimum. I live on a course and I won't join because the price they ask is just too much. I wouldn't get to play enough for it to make sense. So when I do get to go play, I drive past an empty course to go somewhere else.

You have more restraint than me. If i lived on a course I'd have to join.....I'd be out there every evening if only to play 3 holes or so.

Junior membership(under 45) 282/ month for unlimited golf, pool, fitness. 500 annual f&b, plus 3500 initiation paid off over 5 years interest free. My wife is included in the membership. Believe it or not, probably one of if not the most inexpensive fully private clubs in AZ

Trust me, it's hard to look at it and not want to play there. But I've lived here 11 years and most of the folks around here know I play and none that are members have ever offered to get me on as a guest. In fact, an employee at the course who was my neighbor at one time, saw my clubs in the back of the truck and said "Oh you play golf?". I said yeah and he said "Well I only play with certain people, so...". My wife and I just stood there during a very awkward silence. I guess it was his rude way of saying don't ask me to play.

here in Boise Idaho there are at least 5 public course that are under 1000.00 bucks a year for unlimited year-around golf. cart passes are usually another 400-500. so you can ride unlimited for under$150.00 bucks a month easy here. I am a member on the course I live on for $900 a year. I mostly walk and just pay for a cart if it's hot or I am feeling lazy.

"Well I only play with certain people, so..."

What does that mean??
Beats me but those were his exact words. I can only guess but I took it to mean that I shouldn't ask him to go play golf. Which I didn't. Good thing is we have new neighbors now who are great people but he still works at the course so maybe that's why I've never been asked to play there.
