My RedX hangs about 5* toe down

I thought it was face balanced?

So I thought I'd check my putter - it definately hangs about 5* (or so...) toe down. My miss is almost always a push. Is this something I should b itch about? Isn't it supposed to be a face balanced putter?

I'm getting the RedX2 for xmas.

Did a ton of research on it (here and on BSG) and it turns out it's not 100% face balanced (so you're not crazy). That said, it's VERY close to face balanced and I'm told is just fine for a straight back/through stroke...if that's what you're worried about.

Even on his site it says it is almost perfectly face balanced. 5 degrees really isn't that much when you think about it. It does work great for a straight back straight theu stroke though.

I love my Red X - best mallet putter I've ever owned.

Only wish I could get the tour version with extra sightline on the top of the head.... :)

I must disagree with Chris on his statement 5* is not much. It is a huge difference the longer the putt or shot. If it bothers you that much then you bought the wrong putter for your stroke. You will also compensate for it during your stroke.

Doesn't matter who's right at this point. If you think 5 dgrees is a problem...then it's in your head and it IS a problem. Gotta ditch the RedX.

I have suddenly gone on a face balanced trip even though I have putted Napa, BB16, etc the past few years.

I picked up a BHB8 C and a Tourstage PV2 (anser head, mid slant/long neck, no insert unlike the PX2) the past month which are supposedly face balanced. There is still a bit of hang. I don't think enough to really affect a stroke.

The only true/perfectly face balanced putters I have seen have had to be mallets and double bends. Both of which I don't feel comfortable with.

If it bothers you that much put some lead tape on the underside of the heel. der da dur...jk

It hasn't bothered me - in fact one of the best putters I've ever owned along with the B-60. It's just that my miss is always a push - about 1 hole to the right and I'm looking for reasons. I feel it's at least partly an equipment problem as it's such a consistant miss. May not be that though.

Check the grip. I had that problem when I first got my BHB8 C. Turns out the grip wasn't on straight.

That will do it everytime. Amazing how many grips come from the factory off a little bit.

Sounds like you guys are thinking about two different things. Chris is right in saying that 5* is not much as far as the balance of the putter. 95% of people wouldn't be able to tell the difference between the two purely by feel.

I think 3puttbert is thinking about the face being 5* open or closed at impact, which would make a big difference on long putts.

So you are both right... ;)
