Whats the difference in the RocketBallz drivers? It all sounds the same!

Ok can someone please explain in english, what is the difference between the Taylor Made RocketBallz driver?

 

There is the - TOUR and then the TOUR TP and the TP.

 

I have an Ivy League MBA and I still cant figure this out.

The Tour is a different head from the non-tour. It is a deeper face. The TP version is a shaft upgrade on the same Tour or non-tour head.

There are two different heads - RBZ (non-tour) and RBZ tour. And then TP can be added to either and just results in a shaft change.

According to TM:
1) the non-tour is draw biased while the tour is not (many have posted that they did not notice this difference in reality).
2) The weighting on the two is different such that the non-tour promotes a little higher ball flight and spin - again individual results may vary.
3) The two have different profiles and shapes - the tour has a deeper face, non-tour is shallower.

In reality, which head is better for an individual is largely a matter of personal preference - you really need to try both and pick the one that works and feels best for you. Some tour players use one, some the other so don't let the 'tour' moniker give you any false impressions.

Now for the shafts. This is where things can get a little confusing.

RBZ (non-tour ,not tp) comes stock with the XCon-5 - mid-high launch and spin and light weight
RBZ tour (not tp) comes stock with the XCon-6 - mid to low-mid launch and spin but still fairly light weight
Both TP versions use the HD6 - low to low-mid launch and spin - 'normal' weight

Again, you need to try them to know which one will be best fit for you.

Any of these can be ordered with a lot of other shaft options you can try out at a TM fitting chart - for most the cost will be similar to the TP cost although some have an additional up-charge.

It refers to relative height of the face (deeper is taller, shallower is shorter) - measurement 'B' in the following diagram.

Re Deep Face vs Shallow Face, here's my contribution.I can only use shallow face fairways,
the J38 5 wood pictured is stunning...., Deeper Face SuperTri on the left, is great!
