OBX advice

Heading to Corolla next week and looking for advice on which course to hit. I'm sure I'll only get out one time so I want to find a good track.

Make the drive to the Carolina club.

Currituck Club is a good track, but expensive. I am a member (pass-holder) a both the Pointe and Carolina Club - both excellent courses that can be challenging if you want them to be. Pretty reasonable prices for this season, and you may be able to score a 'golfnow' discount, as well. Carolina Club is a fun course that forces you to make a few shots and also offers a couple of 'grip-and-rip' holes - and has tough breaking greens and a good bit of water - good day from the golds. The Pointe is a pretty wide open course that'll kick your but on a windy day and has fast, intimidating greens on the right day (they grow 'em out just a little during dry conditions to keep 'em healthy, but they are still pretty darned fast even then).

Other options:
1. Holly Ridge or Goose Creek - not my first choice - not in the same league as C-Club
2. Seascape - on OBX, not a bad course, sort of cut up
3. Nags Head Links - good as a links type course, but a bit expensive.
4. Kilmarlick - haven't been there in a long time so I have no knowledge.

Virginia Beach offers a bunch for those who want an adventure - about an hour north - try Heron Ridge, VB National, Stumpy Lake, Cypress Point.

If you are on vacation, consider the two-round special at Carolina Club and Pointe - you get a pretty decent price break when you book both courses. It's worth it for some great golf and decent after-round libations at the Pointe.

It'd be cool to hook up with you, but my son and I are spending Mon-Fri visiting a bunch of college campuses around the state - he's doing his college application/admission ballet this fall. Have fun!
