need advice

i play mp-32 with x-100's and lovem. I probly don't need x-100's but that is what they came with (got a deal off the web on them 2-3 years ago). Anyways, I hit my playing partner's mp-37(with s300) 5 iron right after mine and the ball flight was much more penetrating. I alway thought a weaker shaft meant higher flight so it must be the head right? So in my hypothetical new set I don't know if I want to switch to s300 because I play very well with x100's.

 

So I'm thinking of getting some blade/musclebacks. Yonex is my fav right now but I like the look of the royal collections and also the tourstage and srixon musclebacks or whatever.

 

I've read that the 32's have a higher ballflight than regular blades but I'm also kind of interested in the shaft offerings alot of JDM's have. Like the Nippons and Monacos? i think. How do the various offerings compare to dg x-100? I know I should get fitted but I would like to get an idea of what to try if I get fitted. I would probly go to pure performance lab in pinehurst if that helps. I think they have lots of JDM stuff there.

whats your ss? head and shaft could both affect trajectory. if you're looking for lower traj id recommend the nsp super peening blue.

go get fitted but here are a few lower launching shafts to try

1. nsp super peening blue
2. kbs c-taper
3.modus pro 120
4. shimano tour

And absolutely make sure you try Epon AF-Tour blades, since you like blades...... and yes, try the C-taper and Project X while you're at it.....

Epon AF-302's worth a demo too.... and you could make up a mix set with the blades easily.

thank you for responses. my driver ss is 110-115 on course I believe. I have been measured 120+ but that's in simulators and I don't swing that hard normally plus they're simulators! . I rarely go at it like that on the course. I carry my driver 265-275 and my 5 iron 180 when I play.

I have narrowed it down to the tourstage and yonex (by looks only). Would it be beneficial to have a slightly lighter shaft in those? I remember seeing someone say that their set is a c-9 with monacos in them I think, a 127g shaft at x. They come stock with s200 or nippon pro gh wf stiffs which are a tad lighter I believe.

I'll be sure to hit epons, miura and whatever else I can get my hands on though, I just really like the looks of the TS and yonex ones.

Personally, I highly suggest the Tourstage blade offerings if that is what you are interested in. As to ballflight, I tend to hit my X-Blade 901s with a mid-high, but penetrating trajectory when paired with the KBS C-Tapers. Swingspeed alone isn't going to tell me if you can play the C-Tapers, rather your transition and whether you "hit" or "swing" will. If you tend to be on the "hitter" side and/or have an aggressive transition and downswing, the C-Tapers will be very good for you. Very smooth shaft when paired with the right person.

I have eZones with Monacos and looove them. I also practice with MP 100s with S300s. The Yonex are 1-1/2 clubs longer.

Without offending. Whenever someone says "high or low launch," it gets under my skin- am I the only one who flights his shots?????????

Regardless, high is good with the Monacos and Modus 3s as more air time means more distance (they penetrate well into the wind, unlike KBS Tours which suck) and stopping power on greens.

I also have a set of Monacos in my Miura TBs, which are 1/2-1 club shorter than the eZones.

wow thanks for feedback again! It is very nice to be able to see others experiences. Seems like there is lots of love for Yonex (i have googled quite a bit) but not many people (at least on the US web) for Tourstage. I know Tsupo was high on them I have googled and found many of his posts. Problem for me is finding a place to demo some sets. THe place I found has only Epon and MIura. For some reason I find yonex or TS more attractive. Anyone know a place in pinehurst area? or NC really?

Yonex are attractive but take it from a guy who played yonex exclusively for a year, epon is better. you have the ss to love the monoco. should Haave my perssonals with monoco in a few weeks, will let you know.
