Yeah Buddy! My first Cameron

Today was a good day. I took my employees out for a Christmas lunch, and they were nice enough to present me with a Golfsmith gift card. I ran over after work and looked at their new and used putters. Hit the Redwood anser and Nike Tiempo. Preferred the Redwood, had a pretty good feel.

 

I looked through the used Camerons but did not see anything that I really liked. My wife called to let me know she was leaving work and I told her I was walking out the door, when I saw a putter over by itself, away from the other SCs.

 

It is a 35 inch Pro Platinum Newport 2 Mid Slant.

 

I rolled it for about 10 minutes on the fake green, and was putting a good stroke on it. 1 $50 gift card and $30 cash and I have a new baby.

 

I have been putting with it in my office for the last hour, and my new record is 7 straight 10 footers. Never did that with my 2ball. I am sure that is just the new confidence period, but I am loving this thing.

 

It has seen its fair share of use, but I am planning to send it to the Custom Shop early next year. That is the main reason I have been looking for a used SC, to get it redone.

 

For the folks that have sent their SCs to the spa for the royal treatment, can you answer a question for me? Is there a list of available paint fills anywhere? I have not been able to find one. I am leaning toward maroon and black, but I would like to see what my options are.

 

Here are a couple pics. (stupid camera would not focus properly on the putter) And I picked up the odyssey head cover out of the used bin to throw something on my SC to deter any would be shoplifters at the course.

Here are the colors available: white, black, green, lime, red, yellow, Circa yellow, gold, copper, silver, orange, royal blue, navy blue, light blue, purple and pink.

OFFTOPIC: Little hint for you and everyone else who is struggling with compact digital camera autofocus. Shuffle through camera's menu and disable autofocus. After that you should see 'aimsight' at center of screen. Another option is that your camera don't focus to that short shooting distance. In that case shoot from farther away and zoom closer or if your camera has 'macro-option-, use that.

Funny you mention this. I also sent a PPMS to the shop for restoration. (see picture) I had asked them to customize the putter with blue paintfill (instead of white), but they elected to do only certain parts of the hosel, and soleplate lettering in blue, and the rest in standard white paintfill. They did an incredible job, and the finish looks wonderful.

 

Congrats on a great putter. I eventually sold mine (needed the $$$ at the time), but I'd gladly do it again. I believe the "custom shop" has various color choices, but you may have to call them and discuss the project first.

Right now I am leaning toward the Red (is it the merlot red?) and Circa 62 yellow. But that is not definate. Will they just use two colors, or can you request more.

 

I am also leaning toward the Custom shop stamp, but possibly the yin-yang. You don't see it very often, and it fits with the possible "name" I have picked out for the putter.

 

One of my favorite movies is "The Big Lebowski". I am contemplating getting DUDE (dancing letters) as the initials. I wonder if they would do that on the front of the neck, on the opposite side of the CAMERON on the back? Also the yin-yang just seems to fit better with the DUDE than the $ or Custom Shop stamp.

 

One of my favorite lines from the movie is "The Dude abides." I repeat that mantra to myself anytime I 3 putt.

 

Also my daughter loves Nemo, especially the surfer turles.

 

Not sure about grip and headcover. I am liking the burgundy headcover, but might go with the original Pro-Platinum. Anybody know if it will hold a divot tool? I have seen some without, and I think some with, but can not be sure.

When you fill out for order information just request for them to stamp the name on the opposite side of Cameron on the neck and were you would like the Yin Yang in the SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS BOX. They usually do special requests like that with no problem.

That one is a great canditate for resto. And at the price you paid , even with the cost of resto you are looking at less than the price of a brand new one (cool):) Nice pickup :drinks:

I have been looking for a while. I thought I had angered my golf karma by lowballing a guy on craigslist for a Mil Spec last week, but things work out. I am hoping to get out to the range and practice for a bit later today. See if I put as well on the green as I do on the carpet. (cool)

Putted for about an hour this afternoon. Man this thing rolls the ball well. I was very happy with it. Especially distance control. Still need some adjustment on lining up the 5-10 footers though.

 

Thought about it, and if I do go with the red and yellow, I should probably get the red or yellow studio headcover to go along with it. Also probably a red Baby T grip as well. We'll see.

I believe at the end they have a "special instructions" section and that is where you put in your paintfill requests. I think it's a maximum of 2 choices.

I like both combinations equally, just can not decide.
