glenwayputters, about how long for a custom made putter by David Mills?

I want to order a plumbers neck tradition like he had for sale on the site. I didn't have a chance at the cool customs because of people like choeppner :)

I waited about 3 months for mine. I placed my order directly with David Mills in July 2006, and I got the finished product in October. I wasn't in a rush, so it wasn't an issue. And I was very happy with the results.

 

 

I email David, but haven't heard anything from him yet. I have been having some trouble with my email filter which isn't helping. I have no patience. I am sure he is very busy right now anyway. I can wait.

If you have $ available while you're waiting for a Mills putter, definitely take a look at Big Oak and Byron. You could even try Bettinardi through their customer service directly or a premium tour prototype at TKSputters.com. Slightergolf.com is neat because you can see all of the custom jobs he has done. Interestingly, I've read some negative stuff about him here and there on Golfwrx so you may want to check that out first.

 

CHOEPPNER probably knows more avenues to try, so if he's checking this thread, hopefully he'll pipe up.

 

 

good advice -- at the end of the season - October - Dave at Big Oak has tour samples available -- you might call and see if any are left - the price is almost half off and they are as if brand spanking new.

I would never promise my wife no more equipment, I know that would be a lie. Sometimes a deal is just too good to pass up.

 

I have looked into a couple of the other putter makers and they all look wonderful. My main reason I want a mills is if I ever get tired of it, highly doubtful but possible, the resale is better than say a Slighter or Byron. The TKS stuff is out of my price range most of the time. I love Bettinardi putters! But for the price of a truley custom Mills, it doesn't seem I can beat it.

I go by what prices are one that auction site normally.

 

I only need one to start with. If it starts to show wear I will send it back in for a restore. I have a hard time just holding onto something. I had 2 SC Napa Valley putters that I couldn't bare not to play with so I ended up selling them.

Definately give Dave a call at Big Oaks. I've gotten a few putters from him in the past and the quality is top notch. Greatguy to work with and fun to talk to. LOL

 

Byron also fills a nice Niche. Contact Steve (zmangolf) if you are considering going that route as heis the dealer. He does some great work as evidenced by Reids custom.

 

Todd from TKS can give you some pretty decent deals on the Betts. Has some great ones on his site, or you can contact studio B and see what they can do.

 

Davids a little busy right now, as can be expected by the show being this month. Heck, even I had to just call him on the phone as I wasn't patient enough to wait for a response to my e-mails.

 

Another Company to look at is Heritage golf. Great Hand-made putters at a great price. THE builders name is Nick Reinke and he can be reached at [email protected] Do asearch onhee and ouwill ee some of hs.

 

Another very great putter maker is Clay Long. Check out his site at http://rollyourball.com/ Very Very nice putters

 

You also have Thomas Golf. I like their AT-40 Putter http://www.thomasgolf.com/40putter.shtml

 

Tom Slighter does do great work. We just don't see eye to eye. Check him out t www.slightergolf.com
